In particular, a remotely controlled UAV having an illumination system disposed thereon is provided, the illumination system comprised of a concentrated light source and light movement apparatus operable to rapidly scan the target with the light source, thereby providing an illusion of a large area of illumination. Preferably, a line is created from the light source, the line being rapidly moved over the target in specific patterns and at specific frequencies. The system may further include a plurality of UAV's capable of ad hoc networking, so as to illuminate both large areas, as well as stationary and moving targets. In addition, the UAV's having an illumination system disposed thereon may be disposed within a projectile, the projectile tube or gun launched, and the UAV ejected from the projectile over a designated target, thereby enabling quick delivery of the UAV to an area of interest.

Method and apparatus for execution control of computer programs

A method for execution control of a user application program utilizing control program and management software is provided. This execution control is provided without a need to modify or recompile the user application program. The invention provides ability to save states during the execution of an application program and provides a means to jump between them. The invention also provides a means for multiple remote users to interact with the user program and also provide means to control the user application via script and share common portions of execution among multiple execution instances of the same user application program. The invention enables attaching a debugger to a state, maintaining debug context for all the saved states, and means to jump to a state saved at an earlier point in execution to help debug user application programs.

An apparatus and method are disclosed for simulating United States football and other sports that are held on a playing field. The user stands in an area that at least approximates an actual playing field, and an apparatus incorporated into a football helmet or other headgear worn by the user superimposes simulation images onto the field of view of the user, creating an illusion of simulated action taking place on the actual field where the user is standing. This makes the information and skills conveyed by the simulation directly relevant and immediately useful. Preferred embodiments track the location and orientation of the user and thereby allow the user to participate in the simulation. In another aspect, essentially the same apparatus and method are used to simulate driving or flying of vehicles without the need of an expensive mockup of the interior of the vehicle.

System and method for increasing projector amplitude resolution and correcting luminance non-uniformity

InactiveUS20050001991A1Improve performanceIncreasing apparent amplitude resolutionTelevision system detailsProjectorsImage resolutionImaging data
A system and method corrects luminance non-uniformity and increases the apparent amplitude resolution of an image generated by a projector. The projector, which has a given number of stated levels, receives input data and projects images based on that input data. To correct luminance non-uniformity, a projector correction look-up table (LUT) is created. The LUT attenuates the displayed image such that the whole image, assuming it has a uniform level, has the same luminance as the dimmest point. Input data received by the projector is modified by the correction information contained in the LUT. In addition, the output of the projector is analyzed to identify the number of unique levels that the projector is capable of producing, which may be less than the number of stated levels. A dithering engine is utilized to further modify the corrected image data to increase the projector's amplitude resolution, thereby creating the illusion that the projector has more than the limited number of unique levels that were identified.

Headlamp bulb type light pipe

The present invention provides an automotive headlamp assembly having a light pipe. The present invention provides use of at least one incandescent light bulb to illuminate the light pipe. Power consumption is reduced from approximately 35 watts to 10 watts. The present assembly consists of a light pipe, at least one light source positioned at either end of the light pipe, the light source being an incandescent light bulb, at least one reflector and an elongated reflector positioned adjacent the light pipe. The reflector is positioned adjacent the light source to capture light from the light bulb, concentrate the light into a beam and reflect the light into the light pipe. The reflector aims light directly down the light pipe without the use of cable or LED mounted to the light pipe. The reflector prevents lost light and creates a more efficient headlamp assembly. The light pipe is a generally cylindrical elongated member having a plurality of attachment members. Light pipe and attachment members are molded as a one piece construction. Furthermore, an elongated reflector is positioned adjacent the light pipe thereby preventing lost light and creating the illusion of a brighter light pipe.

Gaming machine

A gaming machine is disclosed which includes a rotor (a reel or a roulette wheel) including a visible surface on which symbols are displayed. The visible surface includes a laminated structure with micro lens and dotted pattern layers, which cooperate to create an illusion of depth in a backdrop for the symbols. Preferably, the micro lens and dotted pattern layers are laminated on a sheet mounted on the visible surface. Alternatively, portions of the rotor including the micro lens layer may be molded of transparent plastic material, and the dotted pattern layer may be laminated on a sheet placed on the inner side of the visible surface. The three-dimensional appearance of the backdrop will entice persons to play games on the gaming machine. In addition, players will primarily stare at the two-dimensional symbols while playing games, and thus can avoid eye strain regardless of the three-dimensional appearance of the backdrop.

Apparatus for viewing two-dimensional images in 3-D

These lenses or glasses made with these lenses will allow people to watch any movie in 3-D without the need for special filming, additional electronics, conversion programs, or software. Normal 2-D movies may be viewed in 3-D with these glasses. And it will work with virtually any type of video presentation, as well as print media and art. As an added benefit, the lenses also improve overall image quality by filtering out interference patterns, without the need for electronic editing. This is especially useful for viewing old videos or low grade images. These glasses make it easy, convenient, and comfortable to view any movie in 3-D, even if the movie was not specifically created for 3-D viewing.

Motion Ride Method and Apparatus for Illusion of Teleportation

A method and apparatus for a motion ride for creating an illusion of teleportation on a multiple of passengers in a ride vehicle. Multiple embodiments of varying apparatus are presented for completing four steps of the method. Passengers observe motion of the passenger vehicle over several environments creating an anticipated location for a perceived final destination of the passenger vehicle following motion through an enclosing structure. The enclosing structure has motion distinct from motion of the passenger vehicle over a predetermined amount of time creating a separation between the actual final destination of the passenger vehicle and the perceived final destination anticipated by passengers. Revealing the actual final destination of the passenger vehicle to passengers creates the effect of the passenger vehicle appearing in a different and unanticipated location instantaneously. The effect can be used for complimenting a story-telling teleportation event of a motion ride.
