The communication system includes a hybride fiber / coax distribution network. A head end provides for downstream transmission of telephony and control data in a first frequency bandwidth over the hybrid fiber / coax distribution network and reception of upstream telephony and control data in a second frequency bandwidth over the hybrid fiber / coax distribution network. The head end includes head end multicarrier modem for modulating at least downstream telephony information on a plurality of orthogonal carriers in the first frequency bandwidth and demodulating at least upstream telephony information modulated on a plurality of orthogonal carriers in the second frequency bandwidth. The head end further includes a controller operatively connected to the head end multicarrier modem for controlling transmission of the downstream telephony information and downstream control data and for controlling receipt of the upstream control data and upstream telephony information. The system further includes service units, each service unit operatively connected to the hybrid fiber / coax distribution network for upstream transmission of telephony and control data in the second frequency bandwidth and for receipt of the downstream control data and telephony in the first frequency bandwidth. Each service unit includes a service unit multicarrier modem for modulating at least the upstream telephony information on at least one carrier orthogonal at the head end terminal to another carrier in the second frequency bandwidth and for demodulating at least downstream telephony information modulated on at least a band of a plurality of orthogonal carriers in the first frequency bandwidth. Each service unit also includes a controller operatively connected to the service unit multicarrier modem for controlling the modulation of and demodulation performed by the service unit multicarrier modem. A method of monitoring communication channels, a distributed loop method for adjusting transmission characteristics to allow for transmission of data in a multi-point to point communication system, a polyphase filter technique for providing ingress protection and a scanning method for identifying frequency bands to be used for transmission by service units are also included. Also provided is a method and apparatus for performing a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). In one embodiment, a scalable FFT system is built using a novel dual-radix butterfly core.

Frequency hopping communication method for digital non-center communication system

The present invention discloses a frequency hopping communication method for digital centreless communication systems, which includes procedures below: Service frequency points are divided into one or a plurality of frequency hopping sequence sets. A calling broadcasting station detects state of each service frequency point and selects a frequency hopping sequence set of higher quality. After acquisition of time slot synchronization for the calling broadcasting station and a designated service frequency point, the calling broadcasting station initiates a call request to a called broadcasting station and transfers the call request to the designated service frequency point and the time slot. After receiving the call request from the calling broadcasting station, the called broadcasting station transfers to the service frequency point and the time slot designated by the call request of the calling broadcasting station. The calling broadcasting station communicates with the called broadcasting station on the designated frequency point and the time slot. Different call frames circularly use each service frequency point in a selected frequency hopping sequence set through frequency hopping until communication is finished. The method reduces impact of selective frequency attenuation on normal communication of broadcasting stations and improves communication efficiency.

CAN bus-based voice communication system

The invention relates to a CAN bus-based voice communication system, which belongs to voice communication systems. A method for the CAN bus-based voice communication system comprises the following steps that: voice data is input by a microphone and amplified by a voice amplifier, the amplified voice data is processed by A/D conversion and then is transmitted to a PIC single-chip after being compressed and packed by a voice compressing and decompressing device, and the data is transmitted to the bus through a CAN transceiver; and the voice amplifier of the system is connected with an A/D-D/A converter, the A/D-D/A converter is connected with the voice compressing and decompressing device, the voice compressing and decompressing device is connected with a controller of the PIC single-chip, the controller of the PIC single-chip is connected with the CAN transceiver, and the CAN transceiver is connected to the bus. The CAN bus-based voice communication system has the following advantages that: the CAN bus can monitor monitoring information and system information while performing voice communication, the good voice communication quality can be kept when one CAN bus is shared to performtransmission, the circuit is simple, the power consumption is low, the cost is low, and the method is a novel transmission method in the field of voice communication.
