The method for the virtual desktop compression disclosed by the invention makes use of a rendering instruction buffer area which is synchronous with the desktop image and established on a virtual desktop server side and applies the instructions to assist the image compression in order to reduce complexity of the image compression and increase quality of the image compression. Meanwhile, standards and specifications adopted by the image compression do not influence performance and cost of the client side, so that multi-media application capability of the virtual desktop is strengthened.
