Helmet and body armor actuated ventilation and heat pipes

The lack of air flow under body armor, helmets, and thick garments can lead to excessive moisture build up and discomfort on the wearers body due to lack of heat removal and effective evaporation of sweat. By incorporating wick covered heat pipes or thermal conductors with air flow channels in the apparel contact area between the garments, helmets, and body armor the effectiveness air flow cooling and evaporation of sweat can be restored. Humidity or temperature auto-actuated bi-material valves are used to control this air-moisture-heat flow to achieve a controlled comfortable humidity-temperature environment and avoid excessive cooling. Supplementary air pumps, filters, dehydrators, fluid pumps, heating fluids, and cooling fluids may be incorporated to enhance the effectiveness. Biocides and hydrophilic materials are also incorporated on the wick coverings to avoid biological growth and maintain performance to achieve a healthy environment for the wearer.

Attachment for hair dryers

By providing a plurality of portals in a housing which forms a hair dryer attachment which is merely fixed to the exist portal of any conventional hair dryer, a hair dryer attachment is realized which is capable of substantially reducing the drying time required for drying the hair of any individual, while also being easily employed and comfortable. In the preferred embodiment, at least one raised, sloping panel is formed adjacent the inlet portal of the attachment with the panel sloping outwardly from the generally circular shaped inlet portal. In addition, a plurality of apertures or portals are formed in the panel for enabling ambient air to freely flow therethrough. In this way, the heated air flowing through the central portion of the attachment creates a low-pressure zone on the inside surface of the portals, drawing ambient air through the portals into the interior of the hair dryer attachment, thereby enabling the quantity of the air reaching the hair of the user is substantially increased.

Vacuum Based Pill Singulator and Counter Based Thereon

A singulating disc, carried by a housing, has a plurality of openings around its periphery. The disc rotates vertically through a pickup chamber of a hopper carried by the housing. A vacuum is pulled through the openings by a pump which is connected to the disc. Items are placed in the hopper and, via gravity, fall to the bottom of the hopper where they contact the periphery of the rotating disc. The vacuum at the openings attaches an item and holds it while the disc rotates. At the top of the discs rotation, a diverter directs the item into a path depending on the results of a fragment detection and / or counting mechanism. Items that are allowed to pass by the diverter are scraped off the disc into another path by a scraper. Negative pressure is used to singulate and count a multitude of sizes and shapes of items with no calibration. Retractable paddles, a vacuum management system, and RFID tags may be incorporated. The paddles aid in the pickup and agitation of the items while the vacuum management system conserves the vacuum capacity necessary to pickup and singulate items. The RFID tags may contain information such as the number of items left in the hopper, a par level for that item, an expiration date, among others. Because of the rules governing abstracts, this abstract should not be used to construe the claims.

Air-conditioning register assembly and method

A register assembly for augmenting the flow of conditioned air from a central air-conditioning unit to a room includes a fan, a temperature sensor, and a processing means. The fan is operably positioned for increasing air flow through the register assembly. The temperature sensor is for measuring a temperature of air in the register assembly and for outputting a measured temperature signal. The processing means is for: receiving the measured temperature signal; using the measured temperature signal in determining whether the central air-conditioning unit is providing conditioned air to the room; and activating the fan to augment the conditioned air flow if the central air-conditioning unit is providing conditioned air to the room. The processing means also provides drift compensation to prevent unwanted operation of the fan due to temperature drifts. The register assembly may include a rectangular housing positioned around the components for use in a floor vent, or a housing adapting a floor vent to a centrifugal, tower fan.

Modular heat exchanger

A heat exchanger includes an adapter header plate having a row of coolant openings, an adapter tank having a lip aligned with a heat exchanger core header and tubular protrusions corresponding to the coolant openings of the adapter header plate. Elastomeric grommets are inserted into the coolant openings of the adapter header plate for sealing the coolant openings to the tubular protrusions of the adapter tank. The heat exchanger includes an elongated filler frame member having an opening extending therethrough and opposing lips extending around each end of the opening. At least one tab of adjacent heat exchanger cores are secured to the filler frame member lips to connect at least two of the heat exchanger cores. A pair of opposing side members and a core support member centered between two heat exchanger cores are adapted to direct air flow to the fins and tubes of the heat exchanger cores.

Slant angle vent plate pattern and method

An electronic device includes a chassis base and a chassis cover which define an electronic enclosure. The chassis base includes a slant angle venting plate extending at an angle from a chassis base sidewall of the chassis base. The slant angle venting plate has a slant angle vent plate pattern formed therein. Further, the chassis cover includes a chassis cover venting pattern covering the slant angle vent plate pattern. As the slant angle venting plate is slanted, the available surface area in which to form the slant angle vent plate pattern is maximized thus maximizing air flow through the electronic enclosure.

Port rodder with velocity damper

A port rodder assembly for a recovery boiler includes a duct affixed to and in fluid communication with an air port of the boiler, having a hollow interior, and an air inlet opening. A cutting head is slidably mounted within the duct adjacent to the air port and is adapted to clean the air port. An actuator selectively advances the cutting head though the air port to clean the air port. A wing is pivotally mounted within the duct. The wing interacts with the air inlet opening to control the flow of air through the duct and into the air port and is shaped such that incoming air flows smoothly through the duct to the air port.

Boosting mechanism for internal combustion engines

A supercharger system for an internal combustion model engine is driven by the associated engine and includes a drive belt, a belt driven pulley and a mounting bracket. The pulley drives a shaft, which is connected to the turbo impeller. The impeller is driven at multiple speeds within a volute. The turbo impeller is recessed into an internal housing to provide smooth air flow from the impeller into the volute. The mounting bracket provides flexibility in mounting to various internal combustion model engines. A portion of the supercharger output pressure can be diverted through a hose containing a check valve and used to create positive pressure in a pressurized fuel cell, resulting in consistent and even flow of fuel into the engine's combustion chamber.

System for Cooling a Disc Brake Rotor and Collecting Brake Pad Waste

The present invention is a system which improves the airflow in a disc braking system by using impellers which are powered by a drive shaft that is rotated via a roller that is contacted with the brake rotor. A housing is provided that fits on a brake disc which holds the impellers, drive shaft, and filters. In an alternative embodiment, twin impellers could be used on either side of the rotor to maximize the air flow through the impellers. It is another object of the present invention to provide an impeller shroud housing that has an inlet to allow air to enter the shrouding. There is a mesh filter on the inlet which can capture particles as air is forced into the shrouding. Another filter on the shroud housing outlet to capture the remaining particles as air is forced out of the shroud housing and onto the rotor to aid in cooling of the braking system.
