Color vision is an ability of animals to perceive differences between light composed of different wavelengths (i.e., different spectral power distributions) independently of light intensity. Color perception is a part of the larger visual system and is mediated by a complex process between neurons that begins with differential stimulation of different types of photoreceptors by light entering the eye. Those photoreceptors then emit outputs that are then propagated through many layers of neurons and then ultimately to the brain. Color vision is found in many animals and is mediated by similar underlying mechanisms with common types of biological molecules and a complex history of evolution in different animal taxa. In primates, color vision may have evolved under selective pressure for a variety of visual tasks including the foraging for nutritious young leaves, ripe fruit, and flowers, as well as detecting predator camouflage and emotional states in other primates.

According to an FECr (First Epos Color) algorithm provided by the invention, under the condition that the boundary of an image color space constituted by three primary colors, namely, red, green and blue, is not changed, colors, which are more sensitive for vision, in the image are calculated and are made relatively more increased in a visible light color vision perception property, colors which are relatively less sensitive for vision perception are calculated and are increased a little or maintained unchanged, and a nonlinear regulation method in such a way can be used for obtaining a relatively obvious effect approaching an actual scene watched in a visible light color space, for image watching.

The invention relates to a method for display equipment with narrow dynamic range to reproduce an image with wide dynamic range. The dynamic range of the image can be compacted by simulating the process of color vision processing information of human eyes and the texture details and colors of scenes in the images with wide dynamic range can be correctly reproduced on the display equipment with narrow dynamic range. The method comprises the following steps of: reading a real luminance value of each pixel RGB (Red, Green and Blue) channel in the image with wide dynamic range; converting the RGB into XYZ value; calculating the adaptation luminance of each pixel; carrying out the chromaticity adaptation adjustment of a light source under each adaptation luminance; simulating a photo-induction cell response mechanism and calculating the relative response value under each adaptation luminance; and converting to an orthogonal opposite space by using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) and simulating an edge phase resistance mechanism of a center-peripheral perceptive cell structure for further processing. The invention can be used for compressing the image with wider dynamic range at high efficiency so as to adapt to the display equipment with narrow dynamic range or paper.

This invention is for directly modulating a beam of photons onto the retinas of patients who have extreme vision impairment or blindness. Its purpose is to supply enough imaging energy to retinal prosthetics implanted in the eye which operate essentially by having light (external to the eye) activating photoreceptors, or photo-electrical material. The invention provides sufficient light amplification and does it logarithmically. While it has sufficient output light power, the output light level still remains at a safe level. Most preferred embodiments of this invention provide balanced biphasic stimulation with no net charge injection into the eye. Both optical and electronic magnification for the image, as for example, using an optical zoom lens, is incorporated. Otherwise, it would not be feasible to zoom in on items of particular interest or necessity. Without proper adjustment, improper threshold amplitudes would obtain, as well as uncomfortable maximum thresholds. Therefore, to adjust for these, a way of proper adjustment for the threshold amplitudes and maximum comfortable thresholds is provided. Furthermore, to the extent that individual stimulation sites in the retina give different color perceptions, upon stimulation, then colors of the viewed scene is correlated with specific stimulation sites to provide a certain amount of color vision.
