There is provided a wearable device (100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 700, 802) for alleviating a symptom of a
nervous system condition of a user (202, 302, 602), where the wearable device comprises: mounting means (102) for removably mounting the wearable device to the user; and a power source (104) for, in use, providing power to the wearable device. The wearable device (100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 700, 802) further comprises stimulation means (106) for applying a stimulus to the user, where the stimulus comprises a vibratory stimulus or an auditory stimulus, or both a vibratory stimulus and an auditory stimulus; a sensor device (110) for sensing a characteristic of a user to generate an input
signal; wherein the sensor device comprises one or more
motion sensors and / or one or more biosensors to sense a motion pattern and / or a biological pattern of the user (202, 302, 602) wherein the motion pattern and / or the biological pattern is associated with a symptom of a
nervous system condition of the user (202, 302, 602); and control means (108) for
processing the input signals to generate corresponding output signals for driving the stimulation means (106) to apply stimulation to the user. The wearable device is configured to excite the stimulation device to provide
pulse period stimulation (VS2, AS2) during a
pulse period and to provide
rest period stimulation (VS1, AS1) during a
rest period, where the
pulse period stimulation (VS2, AS2) is greater in amplitude than the
rest period stimulation (VS1, AS1), where the pulse period and the rest period are comprised within a cue period where the pulse period stimulation (VS2, AS2) is greater than the rest period stimulation (VS1, AS1). The wearable device is configured to provide a tandem sequence of such cue periods, and wherein the wearable device is configured to provide cues.
