Marker device for X-ray, ultrasound and MR imaging

An imaging marker comprised of glass and iron-containing aluminum microspheres in a gel matrix which shows uniformly good contrast with MR, US and X-Ray imaging. The marker is small and can be easily introduced into tissue through a 12-gauge biopsy needle. The concentration of glass microspheres and the size dictate the contrast for US imaging. The contrast seen in MRI resulting from susceptibility losses is dictated by the number of iron-containing aluminum microspheres; while the artifact of the marker also depends on its shape, orientation and echo time. By optimizing the size, iron concentration and gel binding, an implantable tissue marker is created which is clearly visible with all three imaging modalities.

Method and an apparatus for capturing three-dimensional data of an area of space

In a method for capturing three-dimensional data of an area of space, a plurality of measuring beams (Ls) are sent out to a plurality of measuring points. A detector (50) receives a plurality of reflected beams (Lr) which are reflected by the measuring points (34a). A plurality of distances to the measuring points (34a, 34b) are determined as a function of the reflected beams (Lr). According to one aspect of the invention, at least one object (30) which comprises a hidden channel (66) having a visible entry opening (72) is located in the area of space. A rod-shaped element (32) is inserted into the channel (66) in such a manner that a free end (70) protrudes from the entry opening (72). A first distance to a first measuring point (34a) and a second distance to a second measuring point (34b) are determined. An orientation (74) of the hidden channel (66) is determined as a function of the first and the second distances.

Projectile with means for marking its strike point

A training projectile includes at its head a hollow arched cavity or cap that defines a hollow cavity within the head of the training projectile, and that bursts when the projectile strikes a target. Into this cavity are placed a first chemically-inactive marking material and a second chemically-active marking material, whereby both marking materials are released upon bursting of the arched cavity. The first marking material creates, for example, a color effect by means of a colored powder; the second marking material produces a light effect by means of, for example, materials that interact to produce chemo-luminescence.

Mobile vehicle hail cover

The Mobile Vehicle Hail Cover can provide a protective barrier for the top surfaces of a motor vehicle, from the damaging effects of falling hail, during a sudden hall storm, while the vehicle is under operation on the roadways, providing completely street legal operation, or when parked. The invention consists of 2 to 3 composite protective cover sheets of flexible rubberized and weatherproof material. The cover sheet for the roof, is connected to the sheets on the hood and trunk by way of elastic straps. The Hood and Trunk sheets are attached to the vehicle by the elastic straps at each corner, connecting to rubber coated metal hooks on the ends, to securely anchor the entire apparatus to the vehicle. This invention, can help automobile Insurance companies, realize the savings of Billions $$ in hail damage claims and prevent potential freeway accident pileups, due to drivers stopping under bridges & freeway overpasses.

A safety cabinet comprises an enclosure defining an opening and a door rotatably attached to the enclosure. The door is movable between an open position and a closed position, the door configured to selectively cover the enclosure when in the closed position. The safety cabinet further comprises a latch system to selectively retain the door in the closed position. The latch system can include a paddle handle to operate the latch system. The paddle handle includes a housing, an operating lever to actuate the paddle handle, and a tang. The operating lever is movable between a normal position and an operating position. The tang passes through a slot in the operating lever when the operator lever is in the normal position with an opening in the tang being accessible for receiving a padlock therethrough. The tang is configured such that when a padlock passes through the opening of the tang, the padlock will prevent the operating lever from moving to the operating position.

Belt device

A belt device for arrangements which are put under tensile load, particularly for systems for the securing of tree crowns, having a belt (10) with a loop at each end (12, 12′) which is formed by turning over the end parts of the belt (10) and fastening the ends to the belt, wherein the fastenings (14, 14′) and the belt (10) are adapted to withstand a pre-determined minimum tensile force. In order to guarantee a good visibility of the indicating element even from greater distances, it is proposed by the invention that the belt (10) is overlapped by an indicating element (16) in the vicinity of at least one of the loops (12), which indicating element shortens the belt (10) and is fastened with two end portions on the belt (10) such that one of the fastenings (18) gives way when a pre-determined tensile force acts on the belt (10), the tensile force being smaller than the minimum tensile force which the loop fastenings (14, 14′) and the belt withstand.

Method for determining the tread depth of a vehicle pneumatic tire

A method for determining the profile depth of a tread of a pneumatic vehicle tire wherein the tread has a wear indicator. The wear indicator has an incision extending in the radial direction of the tire. The incision has a length visible on the tread and the length becomes shorter as wear increases. The wear indicator has two reference marks at a distance from each other. The distance is configured to remain constant and visible throughout the tread wear. A photo of the incision and the reference marks is generated via an application program of a mobile phone having a camera and an image screen. A current profile depth is calculated from the distance of the reference marks and the length of the incision via the application program. The current profile depth and / or a remaining profile depth are displayed until a minimal profile depth is reached on the screen.
