Conductive vias run between the top ground plane and the middle ground plane as well as from the middle ground plane to the bottom ground plane. The middle ground plane is essentially annular, defining an opening in the middle thereof, such that there is a dielectric cavity beneath the patch and the feed line in the space defined by the bottom ground plane, the middle ground plane and the vias that run between the middle ground plane and the bottom ground plane. This cavity can be filled with low cost, low weight foam, rather than the heavier, more costly conventional substrates.

The present invention relates to a multiband folded loop antenna comprising a dielectric substrate, a ground plane, a radiating portion and a matching circuit. The ground plane is located on the dielectric substrate and has a grounding point. The radiating portion comprises a supporter, a loop strip, and a tuning patch. The loop strip has a length about half wavelength of the antenna's lowest resonant frequency. The loop strip has a feeding end and a grounding end, with the grounding end electrically connected to the grounding point on the ground plane. The loop strip is folded into a three-dimensional structure and is supported by the supporter. The tuning patch is electrically connected to the loop strip. The matching circuit is located on the dielectric substrate with one terminal electrically connected to the feeding end of the loop strip and another terminal to a signal source.

Controlled pulse operations in non-volatile memory

A passive element memory device is provided that includes memory cells comprised of a state change element in series with a steering element. Controlled pulse operations are used to perform resistance changes associated with set and reset operations in an array of memory cells. Selected memory cells in an array are switched to a target resistance state in one embodiment by applying a positive voltage pulse to selected first array lines while applying a negative voltage pulse to selected second array lines. An amplitude of voltage pulses can be increased while being applied to efficiently and safely switch the resistance of cells having different operating characteristics. The cells are subjected to reverse biases in embodiments to lower leakage currents and increase bandwidth. The amplitude and duration of voltage pulses are controlled, along with the current applied to selected memory cells in some embodiments. These controlled pulse-based operations can be used to set memory cells to a lower resistance state or reset memory cells to a higher resistance state in various embodiments.
