This product is a lip piece for nasal
breathing during sleep. Traditionally, mouthpieces are worn between the upper and lower teeth inside the mouth, but this lip piece is placed between the upper and lower gums and lips, covering the entire lip, and has a slightly elongated ring shape. It utilizes the principle that even ordinary people can achieve nasal and
diaphragmatic breathing by opening their mouths wide like singers. One piece can be fitted to set two sizes, slightly elongated vertically and slightly horizontally. This allows for adjustments to the size of the person's mouth and jaw closure, adjustment of the amount of air, and multi-purpose use such as
daytime fitting practice or nighttime sleep use. The material is
synthetic resin, and you can choose between a harder (plastic) and a softer (
elastomer) version. When this product is worn on the lips, the
larynx opens, ensuring an open
airway during sleep, allowing for smooth nasal
breathing, and preventing snoring and
sleep apnea. Furthermore, since it prevents
mouth breathing even when the mouth is open, it can prevent various problems associated with
mouth breathing. It can be used by a wide range of ages, from infants with underdeveloped lower jaws who
grind their teeth, to adults with
teeth clenching,
dry mouth,
temporomandibular joint disorders, and
elderly people at risk of aspiration, and is harmless. Once the discomfort of wearing it is overcome, it promotes restful sleep with light and safe nasal
breathing. Other benefits include improved
blood flow to the muscles around the mouth, while at the same time creating a slight tension in the lips, which is good for
blood flow to the brain. The lips relax and the salivary glands work, so
saliva is produced, but the structure prevents
saliva from spilling out of the mouth. The base of the tongue is more easily moved forward, so the
epiglottis (the lid for
swallowing) moves. It is also expected to help prevent silent aspiration pneumonia.
