Embodiments of the present invention are directed to devices for allowing a user to deploy a stent in an anatomical lumen of a patient. For example, one embodiment is directed to a device including a longitudinally extending inner tubular member and a longitudinally extending outer tubular member that are longitudinally and axially displaceable relative to one another. The outer tubular member includes at least one longitudinally extending channel formed between the exterior and interior diameter of the outer tubular member. In addition, the device includes a handle configured to displace the outer tubular member and inner tubular member relative to each other in response to user intervention and a stop configured to coaxially engage the handle to form a safety mechanism. Displaceability of the outer tubular member and inner tubular member relative to each other is limited by the safety mechanism to a predetermined threshold.

A hair implantation instrument herein employs a simple means for capturing a hair graft in a needle in a position for implantation into a scalp and an escapement mechanism for withdrawing the needle in a manner to leave the graft in the scalp. The needle is moved with respect to a rod which positions an implanted graft properly when the needle is withdrawn. The apparatus also defines a sheath over the needle for properly positioning a graft during a graft capture operation. The escapement mechanism is vacuum controlled in one embodiment and spring controlled in a second embodiment.

An intra-corporeal surgical retractor for holding tissues and organs in place is provided, including a sealed container, made from a flexible material, having an interior containing a granular substance and a fluid. At least one tube may be provided with one end attached to the container in communication with the interior of the container and the other end connected to a suction mechanism. When the fluid is evacuated from the container, the container constricts around the granular substance and becomes relatively rigid. An absorbent sleeve or layer may be provided surrounding the container. The granular substance may be provided as loose fill or as a layer over at least a portion of the inner wall. Alternatively, the inner walls of the container may be provided with a very rough surface. Further, the outer surface of the bottom of the pouch is enhanced frictionally.

A hair curling device has a flexible flat base portion, a stem having a bottom end secured to the base portion, and a bowl portion having a frusto-conical wall extending upwardly from a top end of the stem in an open position. The frusto-conical wall has a top edge and a flange extending from the top edge, the frusto-conical wall adapted to be folded over in position around the stem so as to enclose the stem and the base portion in a folded position where the flange of the frusto-conical wall extends around the outer edge of the base portion and is aligned with the bottom of the base portion. A packaging system for use in attaching digital media disks such as DVD disks to plastic containers of consumer products such as molded plastic beverage jugs. The packaging system enables the transfer and distribution of digital media disks to consumers as promotional items. In one form, the packaging system includes a shallow depression built into a wall of a container, a digital media disk positioned in the depression and a label extending across said disk for retaining said disk in place within the depression. Alternatively, the packaging system may include ridges, posts or tabs that are built into the container and used to secure or help secure the digital media disk in place either in a depression or in a partially enclosed cavity on the container formed by the ridges or tabs themselves.

The present invention, in an exemplary embodiment, provides a stent deployment apparatus comprising excellent safety and stent placement and deployment features. An exemplary stent deployment apparatus in accordance with the present invention can facilitate the precise delivery of stents in a safe and repeatable fashion. In particular, a preferred deployment apparatus allows the physician to concentrate on correct placement without having to estimate extent of deployment by providing a physical safety mechanism that limits deployment to the critical deployment point. Moreover, to exceed this threshold, an audible and/or tactile indicator informs the physician that she can no longer retract the stent beyond this point. The stent deployment apparatus guidewire may also be extended rather than retracting the outer catheter to deliver the stent. Additionally, the distal tip facilitates the removal of the deployment apparatus even if a defective stent is only partially radially expanded. In alternative embodiments, the stent deployment apparatus allows for the insertion of an optical scope to facilitate stent delivery.

A rotor of a rotating electrical machine includes a rotor core which includes an annular core plate formed by coupling a plurality of arc shaped core plate pieces. Multiple core plates are stacked together. A circumferential position of a seam formed by coupling the core plate pieces is alternately displaced for every predetermined number of core plates in a stacking direction of the core plates. A bar-shaped member is inserted in a plurality of through holes formed in the respective core plate pieces and aligned in the stacking direction. Both side surfaces of the rotor core in the stacking direction are interposed between end plates, the end plates contact the core plates, and the end plates do not contact the bar-shaped member at least on a radially outside of the bar-shaped member, which is a side in a direction of a centrifugal force that acts on the bar-shaped member.

An axial flux electric motor is disclosed. The motor includes a rotor having a first rotor face, a second rotor face, a primary bearing locator on the first rotor face and one or more permanent magnets mounted to the first rotor face.
