263 results about "Broadcast address" patented technology

A broadcast address is a network address at which all devices connected to a multiple-access communications network are enabled to receive datagrams. A message sent to a broadcast address may be received by all network-attached hosts.

System for signatureless transmission and reception of data packets between computer networks

A system for automatically encrypting and decrypting data packet sent from a source host to a destination host across a public internetwork. A tunnelling bridge is positioned at each network, and intercepts all packets transmitted to or from its associated network. The tunnelling bridge includes tables indicated pairs of hosts or pairs of networks between which packets should be encrypted. When a packet is transmitted from a first host, the tunnelling bridge of that host's network intercepts the packet, and determines from its header information whether packets from that host that are directed to the specified destination host should be encrypted; or, alternatively, whether packets from the source host's network that are directed to the destination host's network should be encrypted. If so, the packet is encrypted, and transmitted to the destination network along with an encapsulation header indicating source and destination information: either source and destination host addresses, or the broadcast addresses of the source and destination networks (in the latter case, concealing by encryption the hosts' respective addresses). An identifier of the source network's tunnelling bridge may also be included in the encapsulation header. At the destination network, the associated tunnelling bridge intercepts the packet, inspects the encapsulation header, from an internal table determines whether the packet was encrypted, and from either the source (host or network) address or the tunnelling bridge identifier determines whether and how the packet was encrypted. If the packet was encrypted, it is now decrypted using a key stored in the destination tunnelling bridge's memory, and is sent on to the destination host. The tunnelling bridge identifier is used particularly in an embodiment where a given network has more than one tunnelling bridge, and hence multiple possible encryption / decryption schemes and keys. In an alternative embodiment, the automatic encryption and decryption may be carried out by the source and destination hosts themselves, without the use of additional tunnelling bridges, in which case the encapsulation header includes the source and destination host addresses.

Virtual private networks and methods for their operation

In methods and apparatus for routing packets through a communications network, a respective distinct broadcast address is assigned to each of a plurality of distinct sets of virtual ports. No virtual port belongs to more than one of the distinct sets. A respective egress address is assigned to each packet entering the network via an ingress virtual port. The respective egress address corresponds to a respective destination address of the entering packet when a correspondence between the destination address and an egress address is known. When no correspondence between the destination address and an egress address is known, the respective egress address is a broadcast egress address corresponding to the set comprising the ingress virtual port. The packet is routed according to the respective egress address. The routing is restricted to virtual ports belonging to the distinct set of virtual ports that includes the ingress virtual port. The distinct sets of virtual ports and their associated broadcast addresses define isolated virtual private networks within the network. Each physical port of the network may map one-to-one onto a corresponding virtual port, or may map onto a corresponding plurality of virtual ports, in which case the each virtual port of the plurality is associated with a respective distinct combination of a physical address of the physical port and a respective virtual network identifier.

Method and system for VLAN aggregation

A method and system for an aggregated virtual local area network (VLAN) architecture in which several VLANs in a network share the same default router address and subnet mask, but remain isolated from one another's network traffic. Instead of the traditional method of assigning one subnet to a VLAN, each VLAN is assigned only a portion of a subnet's IP address space, and is further grouped into a super-VLAN uniquely associated with that subnet. Intra-VLAN traffic is forwarded only to host IP addresses assigned to that same VLAN according to a VLAN identifier carried in the data packet. Inter-VLAN traffic is processed by a virtual router interface which routes the data packet by applying the routing configuration for the subnet uniquely associated with the super-VLAN, according to a super-VLAN identifier carried in the data packet. The routing configuration used by the virtual router interface includes routing protocols, static routes, redundant router protocols and access-lists. Since each VLAN shares the same virtual router interlace, the traditional address overhead of a subnet is minimized, requiring only one default router and subnet mask, as well as only one pair of subnet broadcast addresses for all hosts on the subnet and the subnet itself. The aggregated VLAN architecture provides for the efficient use and management of a network's IP address space.

Address allocation method and device for air conditioning equipment

The invention discloses an address allocation method and device for air conditioning equipment. The method comprises the steps that a main machine in an air conditioning unit allocates instructions to broadcast addresses a slave machine unit, wherein multiple slave machines included in the slave machine unit and the main machine belong to a same communication network; the main machine receives identity information returned by the first slave machine according to the address allocation instructions, wherein the first slave machine is any one slave machine in the slave machine unit; the main machine generates an address to be allocated to the first slave machine according to the returned identity information; the main machine sends the address to the corresponding first slave machine. According to the address allocation method and device for the air conditioning equipment, the technical problem that in the prior art, the installation efficiency is low due to the fact that when RS484 buses are adopted to perform data communication among different equipment in the air conditioning unit, a dip switch needs to be manually arranged in the engineering installation process of the air conditioning unit is solved.

Communication apparatus of ground station and pairing method thereof

The invention discloses a communication apparatus of a ground station and a pairing method thereof. The apparatus comprises: a ground terminal, which is connected with an intelligent terminal and is used for realizing forwarding of a flight control instruction of the intelligent terminal and state information of a flight controller based on a communication link established between the ground terminal and a plane terminal; and a plane terminal, which is connected with the flight controller and is used for writing the control instruction of the intelligent terminal into the flight controller and reading the state information of the flight controller based on the communication link established between the ground terminal and the plane terminal. The method includes: the ground terminal receives a pairing request instruction sent by the intelligent terminal and broadcasts a pairing request message externally and circularly at a certain interval according to a broadcast address; and when the plane terminal monitors the pairing request message and carries out processing on the content of the pairing request message, the ground terminal receives a pairing confirmation message sent by the plane terminal. According to the invention, the flight control instruction can be uploaded to the flight controller and the state information can be downloaded from the flight controller.

Method for achieving address resolution protocol proxy through two-layer virtual local area network and local area network system

The invention discloses a method for achieving the address resolution protocol proxy through a two-layer virtual local area network and a local area network system. The method comprises the steps that an IP stack is configured in drive of the two-layer virtual local area network; the address resolution protocol proxy function is configured on the virtual local area network; a message is received, and an address resolution protocol request is sent to a corresponding virtual local area network according to a matched virtual local area network tag; whether a computer requested by the address resolution protocol and the two-layer virtual local area network are the same network segment or not is judged, if not, the request is ignored, and if yes, the two-layer virtual local area network feeds media access control of the two-layer virtual local area network back to the computer; the two-layer virtual local area network broadcasts the address resolution protocol request; the two-layer virtual local area network receives the response to the address resolution protocol; routing information is written in a forwarding table. According to the method, user configuration is simplified, the virtual local area network with the routing function is built by configuration of the IP and the address resolution protocol proxy, the two-layer or three-layer virtual local area network does not need to be designed much, the internal processing procedure is optimized, and the processing time of the system is saved.
