Integrated technology in sequential treatment of organics and heavy metal ions wastewater

This invention offers an integrated technology in sequential treatment of wastewater. Low biodegradable organics and heavy metal ions are both contained in wastewater from surface finishing processes. The aim of the invention is to find the solution for treatment of organics and heavy metal ions in complicated wastewater that contains organics and heavy metal ions sequentially. Low biodegradable organics are oxidized by a fenton process with pH ranging from 2 to 5 and temperature ranging from 20° C. to 100° C. Heavy metal ions are then treated by a ferrite process with pH ranging from 8 to 12 and temperature ranging from 20° C. to 100° C. The integrated technology of the fenton process and the ferrite process (2FP) is advantageous to treat the wastewater from surface finishing processes, decrease the production of iron sludge caused in the fenton process and increase the quality of ferrite products.

Shutter-shield for x-ray protection

A shutter-shield system for radiation protection is applied to a an x-ray generator in a shielded station for inspecting products moving through the station on a conveyor. Deployed in a sliding attachment on a collimator housing of the x-ray generator, a shutter plate is made movable by an actuator and is configured with an aperture that, in the absence of power applied to the actuator, is made to align with a fixed aperture of the collimator so as to allow emission of the x-ray beam as required for normal inspection purposes. Whenever an anomaly in the product loading on the conveyer creates a gap that could otherwise cause an increase in environmental radiation levels, powering the actuator moves the shutter plate to an offset location that offsets the apertures to an effectively closed state to initiate a standby condition wherein x-ray radiation is substantially confined to the interior region of the collimator, without having to shut down the x-ray generator itself.

Distributed denial of service attack defense method and device

When DDoS attack packets are transmitted from the attacker to the victim's server, the attack packets are detected in the edge router of the LAN accommodating the server. These packets are then destroyed, the address of the upstream routers close to the attack source are retrieved, and attack source retrieval modules are transmitted from the edge router to all the upstream routers. By executing the retrieval modules in the upstream routers, verification is performed as to whether the attack packets are passing through those upstream routers. The results are notified to the transmission source router and if the attack packets are passing through, the retrieval modules are transmitted to routers at the upper stream. When the router at the uppermost stream is reached, a protection module is executed to destroy the attack packets. When the attacks cease, the protection module deletes itself and the protection process is ended.

Compensation for oxygenated fuels in a diesel engine

A fuel compensation factor (FCF) is determined to account for the amount of oxygenated fuel blended in diesel fuel. In one embodiment, the FCF is based on an expected exhaust gas oxygen concentration compared to an actual exhaust gas oxygen concentration. The FCF is used to estimate an amount of oxygenated fuel in the blend. Such estimate can be used to adjust the exhaust temperature model, which is used at least in determining the temperature in aftertreatment devices, the fuel dilution model which affects oil change recommendations, and the diesel particulate filter loading model which affects regenerations. Biodiesels are more prone to waxing at lower temperatures. The estimated amount of biodiesel and the temperature in the injection system are used to prevent and / or delay starting when it is predicted that too much wax exists in the fuel system.

Ink jet recording method, recording apparatus, and recorded object

In an ink jet recording apparatus, it is detected whether or not an ejection has been performed at least one time while printing an image, with respect to each nozzle, within a predetermined period (preliminary on-paper ejection cycle corresponding to the checking area C1), and the nozzle which has performed the ejection at least one time is excluded from a target of preliminary ejection within a second predetermined period (preliminary on-paper ejection cycle corresponding to the checking area C2) subsequent to the above predetermined period. As for the nozzle not excluded from the preliminary ejection target, the preliminary ejection is performed at least one time onto paper (preliminary on-paper ejection area R2) as to each nozzle at a predetermined timing within the second predetermined period (preliminary on-paper ejection cycle corresponding to the checking area C2). Accordingly, printing is not interrupted by a head recovery processing, and also unnecessary preliminary ejection can be reduced. In the case of a recording medium such as cardboard and envelope, which is processed after recording and changed in shape so as to functionate as desired, the preliminary ejection is performed onto a position defined according to the shape, for example, flap portion (206C), overlap portion (206A), and the like, without exceeding a predetermined density.

P-type active region 12; n-type source / drain regions 13a and 13b; gate insulating film 14 made of a thermal oxide film; gate electrode 15; source / drain electrodes 16a and 16b, are provided over a p-type SiC substrate 11. In the active region 12, p-type heavily doped layers 12a, which are thin enough to create a quantum effect, and thick undoped layers 12b are alternately stacked. When carriers flow, scattering of impurity ions in the active region is reduced, and the channel mobility increases. In the OFF state, a depletion layer expands throughout the active region, and the breakdown voltage increases. As a result of reduction in charges trapped in the gate insulating film or near the interface between the gate insulating film and the active region, the channel mobility further increases.
