An air delivery system for providing a supply of air from a source of air at positive pressure to an interfacing structure located at the entrance to the airways of a patient includes a manifold adapted to connect with the supply of positive air pressure and at least one tube connected to the manifold and adapted to deliver the supply of air to the interfacing structure. Each tube is structured to allow movement between an open phase in which the tube allows the passage of air and a collapsed phase in which the tube is collapsed. Each tube is structured such that weight of a typical patient's head against bedding apparel is sufficient to collapse the tube from the open phase to the collapsed phase.
Methods of determining a corrected analyte concentration in view of some error source are provided herein. The methods can be utilized for the determination of various analytes and / or various sources of error. In one example, the method can be configured to determine a corrected glucose concentration in view of an extreme level of hematocrit found within the sample. In other embodiments, methods are provided for identifying various system errors and / or defects. For example, such errors can include partial-fill or double-fill situations, high track resistance, and / or sample leakage. Systems are also provided for determining a corrected analyte concentration and / or detecting some system error.
A method and apparatus for performing minimally invasive hip surgery for implanting a prosthetic acetabular component into a natural acetabulum. The method and apparatus include a driving instrument and driving guide for aligning and driving bone screws and screw-hole plugs. The instrument includes a working section and a driving section connected together with a joint connector. The joint connector enables the working and driving sections to move to various angles relative to each other.
A device and method for jamming wireless communication devices where the jamming signal is derived from the downlink signal of the base station and processed with a time delay sufficient length as to prevent the base stationreceiver from correctly processing the responding uplink signal from the targeted wireless communications device. Such wireless communication jamming device can be used by law enforcement and authorized government entities to block the operation of wireless communication devices such as cell phones within a target area.
RF energy for skin conditioning with a non-ablative electrode is applied with a handpiece incorporating means to prevent electrical shock to the patient when the energized electrode surface makes or breaks contact with the skin. In a preferred embodiment, switch means are incorporated in the handpiece and configured such that the active electrode surface is not energized until it is in actual contact with the patient's skin, and remains energized only while the active electrode surface remains in contact with the patient's skin, so that no voltage is present on the electrode, when an air gap whose dielectric breakdown can cause an electrical shock to the patient arises, immediately before or immediately after skin contact during a skin conditioning procedure. In another preferred embodiment, the electrode to skin impedance change as the electrode touches the skin is used to activate a switch that transfers RF to the electrode.
A system arranged in an aerial vehicle for determining the position of the aerial vehicle relative to a center of a remote predetermined landing area arranged on a surface. A beam emitter is configured to emit beams towards the surface. A detector is configured to detect the beams reflected from the surface. A control is configured to control the beam emitter to emit beams onto the surface to form a plurality of lines thereon. A processor is configured to detect at least one edge providing a difference in height relative to the surface based on the detected reflected line forming beams. The edge substantially surrounds the predetermined landing area. The processor is further configured to determine the position of the aerial vehicle relative to the center of the remote predetermined landing area based on the detected at least one edge.
A system, apparatus and method for adaptive communication with a downhole device is disclosed. The instant invention proposes an adaptive system of communicating information from the surface of the earth to a device located downhole; thereby optimizing the drilling process by adaptively fitting the talkdown protocol around the existing drillstring RPM. A further economic benefit is that with this adaptive system the ΔRPM Offset between the optimized drilling condition and the RPM required for data transmission can be monitored and adjusted in real-time, resulting in less disruption to the drilling process. Several embodiments are given.
