Omni-directional camera design for video conferencing

An omni-directional camera array that is very small and unobtrusive and allows for higher pixel resolution for the face of meeting participants sitting or standing around a conference room table, as would be typical in a video conferencing situation. The camera system of the invention uses N cameras and an N sided mirror to capture images of the surrounding scene. The cameras are arranged to have a small distance between their virtual centers of projection. The images from the N cameras are stitched together to create a 360-degree panorama using a calibration surface. To stitch the images together in real-time, a static image stitcher is used, which stitches images together perfectly for objects on a calibration surface. The calibration surface is typically defined by the boundary of the table the camera is sitting on.

Photographing method and device

The invention relates to a camera device. The camera device comprises a flasher, a sensing module, a brightness processing module and a brightness compensation module. The flasher is used for laser pre-flashing and main flashing. The sensing module is used for sensing the image information which is fed back after the pre-flashing of the flasher. The brightness processing module is provided with a preset brightness value. The brightness processing module can divide the image information sensed by the sensing module into a high brightness block and a low brightness block, calculate the brightness difference between the average brightness value of the high brightness block and the average brightness value of the low brightness block, compare the brightness difference with the preset brightness value, and judge whether the image information has the depth of field and judge the degree of the depth of field according to the comparison result. If the brightness processing module judges that the image information has the depth of field, the brightness compensation module corrects the main flashing intensity and photosensitivity of a field depth degree correcting flashing device according to the degree of the depth of field judged by the brightness processing module. In addition, the invention also relates to a camera method.

Speed indicating apparatus

A speed indicating system useful in training an athlete includes a spool on which a tether line is wound with the free end thereof then secured to the body of the athlete, any selected one of the athlete's limbs, or any object swung, kicked or thrown by the athlete. The spool includes one or more permanent magnet pieces mounted on its periphery in an alignment adjacent an inductive pickup coil which then communicates the current level induced to a meter indicating the tether line deployment rate. The reverse electromotive force resulting from the inductive coupling is then useful to reduce the inertially driven tether line deployment.

Cooling device utilizing internal synthetic jets

A synthetic jet cooling device (1) for cooling an object (5), comprising: a transducer (10) adapted to generate velocity waves, and an enclosure (4) arranged to receive the velocity waves via an actuated aperture (8). The enclosure (4) is sufficiently large to generate, at the actuated aperture (8), an internal synthetic jet inside the enclosure (4). Furthermore, the enclosure (4) is arranged to contain the object (5), thereby enabling cooling of the object (5) by the internal synthetic jet. The arrangement typically permits multifunctional use of an existing enclosure, containing the object to be cooled, both for its original purpose (e.g. a reflector in a lamp, or a LED backlight module) and as an enclosure generating internal synthetic jets, why the cooling device typically requires virtually no extra space and weight, and can be provided at a low cost.
