Method of forming a minute resist pattern

A method of forming a minute resist pattern wherein a positive-working photoresist composition containing 3 to 15 parts by weight of a quinone diazide group-containing photosensitizer relative to 100 parts by weight of alkali-soluble novolak resin is developed by an aqueous organic or inorganic alkali solution having a lower alkali concentration than that of the conventional one as the developer. The preferable example of the organic alkali materials in the developer is quaternary ammonium hydroxide, and the preferable example of the inorganic alkali materials in the developer is alkali metal hydroxide. The concentrations of the quaternary ammonium hydroxide and the alkali metal hydroxide in the developing solution are 2.2% by weight or less and 0.4% by weight or less respectively. Using such developing solution, high sensitivity, a high film retention rate, high resolution, low process dependency of dimension accuracy, and a formation of excellent pattern profile can be achieved.

Method for producing a solar module with thin-film solar cells which are series-connected in an integrated manner and solar modules produced according to the method, especially using concentrator modules

Known methods of producing large-surface integrated thin-film solar modules with an amorphous, poly- or microcrystalline absorber layer always comprise division and conversion structuring processes which can cause instabilities in the structuring and which are relatively expensive. According to the inventive method which can be used to fabricate substrate solar cells and superstrate solar cells, the mask which is used provides for structuring itself during the deposition of layers for the rear electrode and the absorber layer through its geometrical form. The use of a mask which can be reused as an independent element after use in this method allows for a relatively free range of possible geometric forms. This also makes possible applications inside and outside of buildings, including in the area of a window, from an esthetic and informal point of view. These types of application are also supported by the possibility of a structural connection between the solar modules produced according to the inventive method and light-collecting concentrator modules, in order considerably to increase their average and total energy conversion efficiency.

Lossless adaptive encoding and decoding of integer data

A method and system of lossless compression of integer data using a novel backward-adaptive technique. The adaptive Run-Length and Golomb / Rice (RLGR) encoder and decoder (codec) and method switches between a Golomb / Rice (G / R) encoder mode only and using the G / R encoder combined with a Run-Length encoder. The backward-adaptive technique includes novel adaptation rules that adjust the encoder parameters after each encoded symbol. An encoder mode parameter and a G / R parameter are adapted. The encoding mode parameter controls whether the adaptive RLGR encoder and method uses Run-Length encoding and, if so, it is used. The G / R parameter is used in both modes to encode every input value (in the G / R only mode) or to encode the number or value after an incomplete run of zeros (in the RLGR mode). The adaptive RLGR codec and method also includes a decoder that can be precisely implemented based on the inverse of the encoder rules.

Method and apparatus for beverage dispensing nozzle

A method and apparatus for a beverage dispensing nozzle equipped with at least one flow director dispenses at lower flowrates. In a first embodiment, a single flavor beverage dispensing nozzle equipped with at least one flow director segments the flow and reduces the cross sectional area of the fluid stream, thereby forcing product to move downward. A second embodiment provides an improvement to an existing beverage dispensing nozzle, by adding at least one flow director in an annular channel of the beverage dispensing nozzle. The addition of the at least one flow director in the annular channel provides the beverage dispensing nozzle with the ability to dispense product at lower flowrates by increasing the velocity component of the exiting product. The exiting product now has sufficient energy to separate from the beverage dispensing nozzle. Methods for using the beverage dispensing nozzles with the at least one flow director are also presented.

Apparatus for deinterleaving interleaved data using direct memory access

Deinterleaving is performed using a “smart” direct memory access (DMA) function. The deinterleaver, which may be a modified DMA controller, can be programmed with a step size so that the deinterleaver reads every Nth byte from the memory. The deinterleaver automatically increments the source memory address by the step size to read successive bytes of a codeword. The deinterleaved data can be written to the same memory, to a different memory, or to some other device.

Supplementing biometric identification with device identification

A computer may identify an individual according to one or more biometrics based on various physiological aspects of the individual, such as metrics of various features of the face, gait, fingerprint, or voice of the individual. However, biometrics are often computationally intensive to compute, inaccurate, and unable to scale to identify an individual among a large set of known individuals. Therefore, the biometric identification of an individual may be supplemented by identifying one or more devices associated with the individual (e.g., a mobile phone, a vehicle driven by the individual, or an implanted medical device). When an individual is registered for identification, various device identifiers of devices associated with the individual may be stored along with the biometrics of the individual. Individuals may then be identified using both biometrics and detected device identifiers, thereby improving the efficiency, speed, accuracy, and scalability of the identification.

Lossless adaptive golomb/rice encoding and decoding of integer data using backward-adaptive rules

A method and system of lossless adaptive Golomb / Rice (G / R) encoding of integer data using a novel backward-adaptive technique having novel adaptation rules. The adaptive G / R encoder and decoder (codec) and method uses adaptation rules that adjust the G / R parameter after each codeword is generated. These adaptation rules include defining an adaptation value and adjusting the G / R parameter based on the adaptation value. If the adaptation value equals zero, then the G / R parameter is decreased by an integer constant. If the adaptation value equals one, then the G / R parameter is left unchanged. If the adaptation value is greater than one, then the G / R parameter is increased by the adaptation value. In addition, the adaptive G / R encoder and method include fractional adaptation, which defines a scaled G / R parameter in terms of the G / R parameter and updates and adapts the scaled G / R parameter to slow down the rate of adaptation.
