Resource reservation for users in a mobile communication system

The invention relates to a method and scheduling apparatus for reserving radio resources in radio resource block units in a mobile communication system for a plurality of users. Further, another aspect of the invention is the indication of a radio resource reservation in radio resource block units in a mobile communication system to one of a plurality of mobile terminals. To provide a new mechanism allowing an efficient utilization of radio resources the invention proposes a resource reservation mechanism that reserves radio resources for a plurality of users in resource block units. Thereby, individual resource blocks are reserved for the individual users for a reservation period that comprises a plurality of time slots (or sub-frames). Further, the resource block reservations for the users overlap at least partially among the users, i.e. individual ones of the resource blocks are reserved for plural users.

Backpressure mechanism for switching fabric

Roughly described, a packet switching fabric contains a separate queue scheduler for each combination of an input module and a fabric output port. The schedulers may also be specific to a single class of service. Each queue scheduler schedules its packets without regard to state of other input queues and without regard to packets destined for other output ports. In an aspect, the fabric manages per-flow bandwidth utilization of output port bandwidth capacity by monitoring the same and asserting backpressure toward the queue scheduler for any thread that is exceeding its bandwidth allocation. In another aspect, a switching fabric uses leaky buckets to apply backpressure in response to overutilization of downstream port capacity by particular subflows. In another aspect, a switching fabric includes a cascaded backpressure scheme.

Resource allocation for D2D communication

There is provided a mechanism for allocating communication resources of a cellular communication network to a D2D communication. After an eNB has configured a number of resource pools indicating a set of resources usable in the D2D communication, D2D clusters which share a same resource pool are enabled to obtain resources for their respective D2D communication. By detecting the current resource utilization state in the allocated resource pool by measurement on the UE side, it is decided whether suitable resources are available or not. An overload situation is signalled to the eNB if no suitable resource can be detected.

Access Router, Service Control System, and Service Control Method

A service is transparently provided to a mobile terminal device without the mobile terminal device knowing an address of a service providing device or a device which relays a packet in a network. A packet between the service providing device which provides a service and a mobile terminal device 10 which receives the service is relayed by a mobility control node 21. An access router 12 inquires of another device about information on the mobility control node 21, and holds correspondence information between information obtained by an inquiry result and identification information of the mobile terminal device 10 in a table. Transfer of a packet between the mobile control node 21 and the mobile terminal device 10 is controlled based on the correspondence information held in the table. With this configuration, the network can transparently provide the service to the mobile terminal device without the mobile terminal device knowing the address of the device which relays the packet in the network.

System and method for moving an object employing piezo actuators

A piezo actuator system, is presented herein. A piezo actuator system comprises a number of piezo actuators which may lengthen and shear. Using the lengthening and shearing, the piezo actuator system grips and moves an object in response to a first and a second control signal, respectively. The possible displacement of the object is limited by the maximum shear of the piezo actuators. To increase the possible displacement, the piezo actuators may be controlled to perform a linear shear sequence or a shuffle sequence. During the linear shear sequence, the object is moved; during the shuffle sequence the object is substantially stationary, while the piezo actuators are repositioned with respect to the object, after which the object may be moved further using the linear shear sequence. A piezo actuator system may be adapted to perform a slow shuffle sequence, being a relatively slowly performed shuffle sequence, during which the linear shear sequence may be performed simultaneously, preventing any dead time during movement.

Method for home agent location

A mobile node stores information identifying a number of possible mobility registration servers so that it can select a server based on its geographical location rather than simply using its default server. Selection will depend on the type of ID data stored. If partially completed FQDNs are stored, a country code is added to see if this corresponds to a local server. Alternatively IP addresses can be stored and chosen by prefix matching with a Care-of-Address.
