55 results about "IGMP snooping" patented technology

IGMP snooping is the process of listening to Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) network traffic to control delivery of IP multicasts. Network switches with IGMP snooping listen in on the IGMP conversation between hosts and routers and maintain a map of which links need which IP multicast transmission. Multicasts may be filtered from the links which do not need them, conserving bandwidth on those links.

Method realizing IGMP interception function on modem device with 4 ethernet interfaces

The invention relates to a method for realizing IGMP snooping on a quadri-Ethernet port modem device. The method comprises configuring a control register in a switching module to add redundant information to a retransmitted Ethernet message, wherein the redundant information comprises a receiving port of the message, intercepting and analyzing whether the Ethernet message is an IGMP message or not, if the Ethernet message is the IGMP message, sending the IGMP message by a system to a network drive module which judges the type of the IGMP message, then adding retransmitted information to an IGMP Report message, and deleting retransmitted information to an IGMP Leave message. The IGMP snooping method realized on a quadri-Ethernet port modem device guarantees multicast messages to be retransmitted to an accurate port, thereby effectively avoiding the waste of the bandwidth of exchange chips, reducing the dependency of choosing the exchange chips, increasing the flexibility of selection on the exchange chips for Modem devices factories, and largely reducing the manufacturing cost, simultaneously the working property is stable and reliable, and the application range is relatively wide.

The invention discloses a IP (Internet Protocol) multicasting method of double-layer switching equipment based on a Linux kernel bridge. The method comprises the following steps: a Linux kernel bridge arranged in the double-layer switching equipment monitors an IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) message between a host and a route, or maintains multicasting forwarding items of the Linux kernel bridge or a network processor in the double-layer switching equipment according to an IGMP report message or an IGMP leave message; the Linux kernel bridge identifies whether a received data frame is a multicasting message or not, and transmits the multicasting message to a port with group members according to the multicasting forwarding items of the the Linux kernel bridge or the network processor so as to transmit to other messages. According to the method provided by the invention, an IGMP Snooping function is realized through the Linux kernel bridge arranged in the double-layer switching equipment, so that the problem of flooding of multicasting messages in the double-layer switching equipment can be solved. The load of a CPU (Central Processing Unit) is greatly reduced due to flexible configuration, and further the full-bridge IGMP Snooping function of a wired port and a wireless port are realized.
