Automatic steering system and method

An automatic steering system and method are provided for a vehicle including an hydraulic primary steering system. The automatic steering system includes a guidance module with a GPS receiver and a microprocessor adapted to process and store GPS data defining travel paths, which can be associated with a cultivated field in an agricultural vehicle application. An automatic steering module is connected to the guidance module and to a steering valve control block, which provides pressurized hydraulic fluid in parallel with the vehicle's primary hydrostatic steering system. The automatic steering system utilizes a constant factor, such as steering rate, for predictability and simplicity in the operation of the automatic steering system. A feedback loop from the vehicle hydrostatic steering system uses the vehicle's actual turning rate for comparison with a desired turning rate. The system is adapted for original equipment installation and retrofitting on vehicles, such as farm tractors, with various primary hydrostatic steering system configurations. An automatic steering method includes the steps of: initializing the system; adjusting the steering with an hydraulic valve to provide a constant steering rate; providing feedback corresponding to the vehicle's actual turning rate and combining the feedback with other input signals to provide automatic steering.

Distributing and arbitrating media access control addresses on ethernet network

Unique Media Access Control (MAC) addresses are determined for dynamically addressable synthetic and physical network devices by requesting a MAC address anonymously from a server acting as an address allocator and arbiter, confirming the use of the requested MAC address, and relinquishing the address to the server for reuse when the MAC address is no longer needed. Alternatively, an agent with a known or established MAC address may be used to request a unique MAC address for the device from the server and to inform the server when the device no longer requires the requested MAC address. Also, instead of requesting a MAC address from a server acting as an address allocator and arbiter, the device instead may send a broadcast Ethernet packet with a broadcast source address having a payload indicating an intent to use a specific MAC address. If another device receiving this broadcast is already using the specific MAC address, then a broadcast packet is sent indicating a conflict with the device's intended address. In this case, the original device would send a new broadcast Ethernet packet with a payload indicating an intent to use a different specific MAC address. This process repeats until no response or assertion of use of the specific address in the payload is received by the original device. These techniques assure that dynamically addressable synthetic devices (such as virtual machines) and physical network devices do not attempt to use the same MAC address on the same network link.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention relates to a method and system for facilitating supply chain processes in an outsourced manufacturing environment comprising an original equipment manufacturer, at least one contract manufacturer, and at least one supplier. The method includes placing a purchase order with the contract manufacturing entity via an outsourced supply chain tool; filtering out parts listed on the purchase order that are flagged for special execution; and placing a second purchase order for flagged parts with the supplier. The second purchase order contains instructions for providing the flagged parts to the contract manufacturer. The method also includes coordinating delivery and payment transactions for the flagged parts and for finished products; monitoring associated activities of the entities involved; and resolving associated issues. The system includes a manufacturing entity comprising: a server executing a plurality of applications including an outsourced supply chain tool for implementing supply chain execution processes; a terminal and data storage device both in communication with the server; network links to a manufacturing division, a plurality of trading partner systems, a customer focus team system, and a commodity team council system; and a decentralized file database for providing supply chain execution data specific to a contract manufacturer system.

The 3-D surfaces may be sculpted about and along the model. Alternately, cross-sectional elevation profiles of routes may be presented in the form of a 3-D sculpted grooves or flutes along, about, and or around the shaft. A variety of configurations are presented for the purpose of maximizing the effective sculptable areas or edges, and to provide a shrouding effect for the protruding peaks that would otherwise be vulnerable to deformation and uncomfortable to grip. The 3-D elevations may be exaggerated to visually accentuate changes in elevation. Features such as trails may be represented as grooves to facilitate marking progress and position. 2-D cartographic data (7,8,9) may also be presented along with the 3-D data or alone as a mounted map. In an alternate embodiment, the invention comprises a toy for children, inspiring learning imagination and adventurous play. Several methods and materials for both computerized and conventional design and manufacturing are provided. The novel aspects of this invention may be incorporated in the original equipment manufacture, modification of existing equipment, and accessories for attachment to conventional equipment.

By adding a dispersant and controlling the content of a co-precipitation reaction complexing agent, the synthesis pH value and the reaction temperature, a nickel-cobalt manganese hydroxide precursor with small particles, loose shape, small density and large specific surface area is obtained. A nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium anode material with typical single crystal shape is obtained by sintering the precursor with a lithium salt and a specific melting acceleration element additive. The invention has simple process, easy process control and no need for modification or addition to original devices. The obtained precursor is easy to react and combine with the lithium salt, which reduces the sintering temperature, simplifies the sintering process and greatly improves the production efficiency.
