System and method for enabling at least one independent data navigation and interaction activity within a document

The inventive system and method are directed to novel embodiments of various tools and infrastructures that enable a user of a document viewed on a data processing system using a document handling application, to engage in at least one additional concurrent data navigation / interaction activity in the document, and / or in the application handling the document, without affecting the user's document interaction activities. In the preferred embodiment of the invention the inventive system and method are implemented by enabling the handling application to present the document along with at least one Independent Data Interaction / Navigation Element (IDINE), that includes a display component for displaying and optionally enabling interaction with any data (content) provided thereto, and a control component for navigating the provided content. Advantageously, the novel system and method ensure that utilizing any particular IDINE to navigate content provided thereto, does not affect the user's ability to navigate or interact with content in the document, or in other IDINEs (if any are present). The system and method of the present invention also provide a number of novel techniques for implementing and modifying IDINEs, and also provide multiple advantageous IDINE-related infrastructures, having additional benefits to parties involved in IDINE use, implementation, and content provision thereto.

System and method of adjusting display characteristics of a displayable data file using a ergonomic computer input device

An ergonomic pointing device, such as a mouse, includes a wheel to provide an input signal in addition to X and Y position signals provided by a rotatable ball of a standard mouse. The wheel extends from an upper surface of the pointing device and may be rotated and depressed by the finger of the user, the wheel being positioned and configured to allow a user to activate the wheel while maintaining a finger in a biomechanically neutral position. The wheel and associated structure, as well as the forces required to rotate and depress the wheel, are configured to reduce inadvertent actuation and to provide a user with tactile feedback, thereby allowing the user to accurately and intuitively activate the pointing device without exceeding an acceptable extension and range of motion for the user's finger and wrist. The mouse is coupled to a computer having a visual display device. The computer is capable of displaying a data file such as a word processing or spreadsheet document, where the data file has adjustable display characteristics such as size (zoom) or data structure (content). As a user rotates the roller, the mouse generates computer signals that are interpreted by an operating system and software applications running on the computer. The signals generated by the roller, together with a given software application, can be used in at least two ways: spatial navigation and data navigation. In spatial navigation, a user rotates the roller to cause the computer and the visual display to zoom into and out of the document and thereby display increasing or decreasing magnification levels of the document on the display. Other modes of spatial navigation allow the user to activate a roller switch, depress special function keys on a keyboard and/or move the mouse to pan, automatically scroll or manually scroll through the document. In data navigation, the user rotates the roller to view differing levels of content or detail with respect to the document.

Method for realizing real-time closed-loop synchronization control by simulating satellite navigation signal

The invention relates to a method for realizing real-time closed-loop synchronization control by simulating a satellite navigation signal. The method comprises the following steps that: a simulator generates a synchronization trigger signal and calculates first frame carrier motion trail data to generate a motion parameter; simulation software calculates the current position and parameter of a satellite in real time after receiving a first frame motion parameter so as to generate a satellite data parameter and transmits the satellite data parameter to a navigation signal simulator in real time; the navigation signal simulator performs simulation and synchronization control on the signal according to the satellite data parameter so as to generate a simulation navigation signal; a receiver performs demodulating and positioning resolving on the signal and feeds a resolving result back to the simulator; and the simulator continues simulating according to the step length of a system and performs closed-loop control according to the transmitted position information. In the method of the invention, the motion trail of a carrier can be received in real time through data navigation simulation software, so that the problems of real-time trail modification, lack of a feedback loop and the like in the conventional open-loop system are solved.
