61 results about "Inline linking" patented technology

Inline linking (also known as hotlinking, leeching, piggy-backing, direct linking, offsite image grabs) is the use of a linked object, often an image, on one site by a web page belonging to a second site. One site is said to have an inline link to the other site where the object is located.

System and method for automatic mesh generation from a system-level MEMS design

A mesh generation tool that is programmatically integrated with a system-level design and simulation environment, thereby enabling the direct generation of PDE solver input from a system-level design and simulation environment and a method for using the mesh generation tool are disclosed. Automatic mesh generation and optimization is improved by making available additional information about the nature and purpose of certain design components to the mesh generation tool. Specifically, the parameters of the components in the device schematic, which represent a user-defined decomposition of a larger MEMS design into smaller entities of clear physical purpose, are made available to the mesh generation tool. The link established between the system-level design and PDE analyses allows the user to move between the two levels of abstraction. The mesh generation tool retrieves information from the components and connectors of a schematic of a MEMS device, and produces a discrete element model suitable for numerical PDE analysis by the finite element (FEM) and boundary element (BEM) methods. A direct link from a schematic model to a mesh model helps the user to produce an optimal mesh for PDE analysis, thereby avoiding considerable unnecessary computation.

Method and data processing system for restructuring web content

There is provided a method and data processing system for restructuring web content which consists of a plurality of web pages. The method comprises the steps of generating a log file which comprises a history of web pages. The history of web pages comprises all web pages that have been selected by a user from the plurality of web pages. An access frequency is determined for each of the selected web pages by use of the history of web pages. A subset of web pages is determined which comprises the web pages that have been accessed by the user with the largest access frequency. This subset is limited to a maximum number of web pages. The plurality of web pages is generally arranged in a tree structure. The tree structure is rooted at the starting webpage. The web pages that are comprised in the subset of web pages is either linked to a portlet which is directly linked to the starting webpage or the subset of web pages is determined at the point in time when the user accesses the user specific special webpage which is also directly linked to the starting webpage. The method in accordance with the invention is particularly advantageous as it allows a user to directly access a webpage within a few clicks away from the starting webpage. Thus he does not have to click through many web pages in order to arrive at his favorite web pages.

Digital imaging method and apparatus

An apparatus and method for electronically creating combined digital images of a person and incorporating them into a series of site-specific background images or film clips making it appear as if the user were actually a part of the original imaging sequence. As to housing, camera, processor, output devices, control boards, cables, currency machine; see Pat. No. 6,507, 361. In one embodiment the camera can move to take the images from different angles and in an alternative embodiment there are multiple cameras situated such that they sequentially capture and store a series of images to be incorporated into the product. An alternative housing apparatus is in a booth for automatically producing an imaging sequence of a self-portrait of the user integrated into a stored background or film clip, including a cash or credit card receiving device, a computer triggered by cash or credit received in the device, a movable digital camera or video camera to view the user, a video monitor for self viewing, and the possibility of one located outside the booth for advertising or amusement purposes. A series of stored digital imaging movie clips for selective withdrawal by the user where the captured sequence of the user is automatically integrated into stock stored movie clips and can be either output in an e-mail message posted to a board with a link to user's choice of e-mail friends' addresses for retrieval or a direct link to friend's and family's e-mail addresses or an output device with hard copy of personalized sequence to CD ROM or Video or hard copy print of a still image.

Method for recommending short-cuts in order to ease and fasten navigating within navigation topology

The present invention relates to the field of network computing, and in particular to method and system for designing a Web Portal comprising a hierarchical structure of portal pages and portlets for accessing Web contents accessible via the Portal. For offering improved web application navigation it is proposed to perform the steps of: a) during navigation of a user in the topology of said web portal automatically sensing (520, 525) information about the navigational behavior of said user for each page comprised of said navigation, b) deriving (530) page hits and page target hits from said sensed information, wherein page hits are defined for pages clicked for reaching another page, and page target hits are defined for pages a user clicks in order to perform a page- specific task or to receive some page-specific information, c) using a predefined metric based on said sensed information for generating a utility ranking for the web pages comprised of the user navigation, d) tracking (620) the current navigational position during said user's navigation, e) calculating for said current position and a plurality of target pages a probability measure to navigate to a respective one of said target pages, wherein said target pages are obtained by said utility ranking, f) calculating (670) an expected saving factor for each target page based on said target page utility and on the navigational distance between said current page and said target page, g) defining (675) at least one shortcut including the respective direct link to at least one of the target pages having a high expected saving factor, h) displaying (680) said short cut as a clickable link to said user.
