System, method and computer program product for handling small aggressors in signal integrity analysis

A method, system and computer program product for determining aggressor-induced crosstalk in a victim net of a stage of an integrated circuit design is provided. The methodology can include combining a plurality of aggressor nets to construct a virtual aggressor net, determining a current waveform induced on the victim net by the plurality of small aggressor nets, and modeling a current waveform induced by the virtual aggressor on the victim net based on the contribution of the current waveforms determined for the plurality of small aggressor nets. In a further embodiment, the methodology can also comprise evaluating an effect of an aggressor net on a victim net; and including that aggressor net in the virtual aggressor net if its effect is below a predetermined threshold. The effect evaluated by the methodology can, for example, be the height of a glitch induced on the victim net by a transition in the aggressor net. Additionally, the aggressor net can be included in the virtual aggressor net if the height of the glitch it induces on the victim net is less than a predetermined factor of the supply voltage. Switching probability can be used to compute a 3-sigma capacitance value, and this value can be used to limit the number of small aggressors included in the virtual aggressor net. The combined currents of the aggressor in the virtual aggressor net can be modeled using a piece-wise linear analysis.

Fingerprint recognition system

A method of analyzing and recognizing fingerprint images that utilizes vector processing of a vector field that is defined as the tangential vector of the fingerprint ridge curves is disclosed. The raw fingerprint image is divided into blocks, filtered to remove noise, and the orientation direction of each block is found. This allows the ridge curves to be enhanced and approximated by piece-wise linear approximations. The piece-wise linear approximations to the ridge curves allow the minutiae to be extracted and classified and a fingerprint minutiae template to be constructed. An enrollment process gathers multiple fingerprint images, creates fingerprint minutiae templates corresponding to the acquired fingerprint images, and stores the templates and other data associated with the respective individual or the enrolled fingerprint in a fingerprint database. In an identification process, an unknown raw fingerprint image is obtained via a fingerprint scanner and processed similarly to the enrollment process such that the fingerprint minutiae template of the unknown fingerprint is compared to one or more previously enrolled fingerprint minutiae templates. The identity of the individual associated with the unknown fingerprint is thereby ascertained. In addition, live finger detection can be accomplished in conjunction with the verification or identification process through analysis of the fingerprint image thus enhancing the security of the overall system.

Table-based pre-distortion for amplifier systems

Frequency-independent and frequency-dependent pre-distortion is implemented using look-up tables to retrieve pre-distortion parameters. To compensate for changes in amplifier operating characteristics over time, fixed pre-distortion tables can be used by appropriately offsetting the index values used to retrieve the pre-distortion parameters. The overall amplifier gain as well as the biases applied to one or more amplifier stages are also preferably controlled. In addition, the frequency-independent and / or frequency-dependent pre-distortion tables can be updated either periodically or as needed, by mapping a measure (e.g., average input signal power) to one or more parameters using equations (e.g., piecewise linear curves), where the parameters are applied to one or more polynomials to update the tables.

System, method and computer-readable medium for encoding a signal into macroblocks

A quantizer and dequantizer for use in a video coding system that applies non linear, piece-wise linear scaling functions to video information signals based on a value of a variable quantization parameter. The quantizer and dequantizer apply different non linear, piece-wise linear scaling functions to a DC luminance signal, a DC chrominance signal and an AC chrominance signal. A code for reporting updates of the value of the quantization parameter is interpreted to require larger changes when the quantization parameter initially is large and smaller changes when the quantization parameter initially is small.

Map database having address points for determining destinations

A user is given location information of a desired place, by providing a map database having an index of street segments, each having one or more street names, zero or more shape points and zero or more address points, the points representing specific positions along a street segment, the address points associated with a house number or address range. A user enters a street address of the desired place into device application software, which returns the location to the user if the desired place is an address point. Otherwise, interpolate the location by finding low and high addresses such as the two closest bracketing addresses from address points, or from one address point and from a street segment end point. The interpolated location will be between the low and high addresses by piece-wise linear interpolation, following the street segment's shape points and is then returned to the user.

Color correction techniques for correcting color profiles or a device-independent color space

According to an embodiment of the present invention, selective tristimulous corrections to device-independent coordinates are applied using a piecewise linear correction function. The piecewise linear correction function is defined such that a maximum of the piecewise linear correction function occurs at a boundary condition of a corresponding device-dependent color space, and the piecewise linear correction function is linearly reduced to zero or approximately zero as values in the corresponding device-dependent color space approach either a different boundary condition or a neutral axis. By having the piecewise linear correction function reduce linearly to zero or approximately zero, corrections to one region of color smoothly diminish and blend into the other regions of color, thereby substantially preventing the introduction of artifacts or image corruption due to the corrections.
