A method of repairing a casting defect in a die-cast part includes operating a mechanical bit within a void space formed in a die-cast part to generate plasticized local material along an inner surface of the void space to close one or more casting defects in a vicinity of the void space. The void space may be a hole bored in the part, or a channel or passage formed in the part. The casting defect may be a porosity formed in the part. A tool for repairing a casting defect in a die-cast part includes a bit operable by a drill. The bit includes a shank and an elongated body extending in an axial direction from the shank. The body is configured to generate plasticized local material along a surface defining a void space in a die-cast part. The plasticized local material closes a casting defect formed in the part, and plasticized material may flow into the casting defect.

Spaced openings are in the insulating material directly below the void space. Relative to the walls, a conductive metal nitride is selectively deposited in the void space, in the spaced openings, and atop the insulating material laterally-between the walls and the spaced openings to form a lower portion of the individual digitlines laterally-between the immediately-adjacent walls. The conductive metal nitride that is in individual of the spaced openings is directly electrically coupled to individual of the channel-material strings. A conductive material is formed in the void space directly above and directly electrically coupled to the lower portion of the individual digitlines to form an upper portion thereof. Other embodiments, including structure independent of method, are disclosed.

Also described is a concrete matrix formed using the formwork and related methods of manufacture of a formwork matrix and formwork. The formwork itself and matrices formed from the formwork may have a degree of compressive strength. With concrete poured and set into the formwork, the resulting concrete matrix has a very high compressive strength and forms a structural matrix on which a hardscape or load may be placed. The above formwork, matrices, and methods reduces the number of parts needed to form a formwork or matrix and may facilitate snap fit design and installation and hence the ability to assemble the matrix toolessly.

Preventing accidents by analyzing and balancing material piles in industrial transportation

A system includes a scanning module, a force distribution module, and an unbalance prediction module. The scanning module generates a 3D model of a pile of material during a loading process and continuously updates the 3D model as at least one additional layer of material is added. The force distribution module compares the 3D model prior to depositing the at least one additional layer to the 3D model after depositing the at least one additional layer identifies at least one void space in the pile of material. The force distribution module further determines at least one force vector having a respective magnitude corresponding to the pile of material. The unbalance prediction module determines an unbalanced state of the pile of material based on the least one force vector and the at least one void space, and performs a corrective action on the pile of material that removes the unbalanced state.
