Electro active compression bandage

The proposed device includes two segments adapted to enclose a body part in a form-fitting manner. Each segment contains an electroactive-material-based actuator, which is adapted to receive an electrical control signal and in response thereto adjust the actuator's morphology, so as to cause the segment to apply a basic pressure profile to the body part. A pressure transition is adapted to redistribute the basic pressure profiles between the first and second segments. A control signal in respect of the first segment causes the pressure transition system to apply a first adjusted pressure profile to at least part of the second portion of the body part, and vice versa, a control signal in respect of the second segment causes the pressure transition system to apply a second adjusted pressure profile to at least a part of the first portion of the body part.

Bandage cooling apparatus and method of using same

The present invention concerns a bandage cooling apparatus which provides a bandage at a different temperature than the body temperature. The use of a compression bandage complemented with cold temperature therapies sometimes represents an effective alternative available to heal various body injuries. Known bandages incorporate or work with systems providing the benefits of the temperature therapy, but they are found to be expensive, heavy or cumbersome. The bandage cooling apparatus includes a casing where a gaseous fluid cools a bandage located therein such that the cooled bandage may then be directly positioned on the injured body part.

Compression bandage for mammals, in particular for horses

The present invention relates to a compression bandage for mammals, in particular for horses, comprising a tubular bandage (1) made of an elastic textile material, which can be opened and closed along a longitudinal slit (2) by means of fastening elements. To design this type of bandage in such a manner that it can be applied to the leg of a mammal using the easiest possible technique and that it can ensure an excellent fit even over an extended period of time so that the most uniformly constant and defined compressive pressure is exerted by the bandage on the leg of the mammal, the present invention proposes that the fastening elements comprise a zipper (3) which extends along the longitudinal slit (2), at last one fastener strap (4) which, when closed, straddles the longitudinal slit (2) in the transverse direction, and a hook fastener (5) which extends along the longitudinal slit (2).

A method for automatic blood flow control, automatic blood flow control system and a tourniquet

The subject of the invention is a method for automatic control of blood from the damaged vessel to be used in a dressing system provided with a tourniquet, a bandage and the first compression element. The method comprises the stage of applying pressure exceeding the systolic blood pressure of the patient via the compression element to a lesion site, so that the blood stops flowing through the damaged vessel, then the stage of reducing the pressure. In the pressure reduction stage, the pressure is reduced by a predetermined drop value, wherein if no blood flow is detected in the damaged vessel, then pressure reduction stage is repeated and if blood flow in the damaged vessel is detected, the pressure reduction stage is interrupted for a pressure drop time. Moreover, the subject of the invention is an automatic compression bandage system according to the invention is provided with a tourniquet with a compression element adapted to compress the damaged blood vessel at the lesion site, provided with an interface for electronic pressure control, and a CPU provided with a memory, connected to the compression element interface. The system is further provided with means for detecting the blood flow through the compressed vessel and means adapted for detecting the blood flow from compressed vessel. Moreover, the subject of the invention is a tourniquet to be used in the system according to the invention, provided with a controlled compression element and comprising a blood flow sensor and a blood loss sensor.

Compression Bandage

A bandage with a raised retention element that generates a compressive force on a wound is provided. The bandage generally comprises a raised retention element disposed on an inner surface of a stretchable material. A pad may also be included on the inner surface of the stretchable material, and the pad may be placed over a wound. Then, a user may wrap the bandage around a portion of the injured person's body such that the stretchable material stretches and wraps upon itself. The raised retention element on the inner surface of the stretchable material has a higher coefficient of friction than the stretchable material, and thus, the raised retention element helps secure the bandage around the portion of the injured person's body to generate a compressive force on the wound.

Compression bandage and method for its manufacture

A compression bandage with a tubular, flexible flat material for surrounding a bodily member and with a number of elastic compression threads, whereby this flat material constitutes a main body that can be stretched in the circumferential direction. A number of elastic compression threads run in the plane of the flat material in the direction of the circumference, and create the compressive effect when the compression bandage is applied. At least parts of at least some of the compression threads protrude outside the flat material, allowing the compressive effect to be adjusted by varying the length of each of the protruding external portions.

Compression bandage

The invention relates to a compression bandage in the form of an elongated rectangle made of a textile fabric on which a hook strip (11) is fastened along a narrow side on a small portion of a lateral face, the hook side (1). The fabric contains elastic threads (2) running in a longitudinal direction and, in the transversal direction, consists of nearly inelastic supporting threads (3).; The invention is characterized in that the spring constant in the longitudinal direction ranging, in the order of magnitude of 0.3 (three-tenths) to 3 (three) Newtons per centimeter of longitudinal stretching and per meter length and per decimeter width of the compression bandage, and uniformly distributed small loops (4) made of soft threads are interwoven over the entire area of the lateral face opposite the hook strip, the coating side, these small loops being oriented approximately perpendicular to the lateral face, are complementary in size and distance from one another to the hooks of the hook strip, and with which, together with the hook strip, a releasable hook and loop closure can be formed.

Beveled foam

The invention relates to a foam dressing with a bevelled edge and where the density at the edge is higher than the density at the central part of the foam. The high density at the edges causes gel blocking of the wound exudate thereby preventing leakage of exudate through the edges. In a preferred embodiment the foam dressing is non-adhesive. The foam dressing may have a water-impervious backing layer, which extends all the way over the top of the dressing and down to the wound-contacting surface. The wound dressing is particularly useful in treatment of venous ulcers in connection with compression bandages, as the bevelling of the edges markedly reduces the indentations in the leg following use of this dressing when compared to a dressing with straight edges.

Compression bandage

A compression bandage shaped as an elongate rectangle is made of a textile fabric on which a hook strip is fastened along a narrow side of a small portion of a lateral face, or hook side. The fabric contains elastic filaments running in a longitudinal direction and, in a transverse direction, includes virtually inelastic supporting filaments having a spring constant in the longitudinal direction that ranges from 0.3 to 3 Newtons / cm of longitudinal stretching and a per meter length and per decimeter width of the compression bandage. Small loops made of soft filaments are interwoven and distributed uniformly over the entire area of the lateral face, or fleece side, opposite the hook strip. These small loops are oriented approximately perpendicularly to the lateral face, in size and distance from one another, and are complementary to the hooks of the hook strip for forming a releasable hook-and-loop closure.
