A conventional operating system folder or directory based file system is implemented with, or enhanced to provide, attributes of shared collaborative workspaces. In particular, the conventional file system is connected to either a server based or a distributed collaboration system and the user interface of the operating system file system is augmented to allow it to control aspects of the collaboration system. Each folder or directory can be synchronized and treated as a “workspace” that can be viewed and shared with other users or groups of users. Folder can also be provided with “awareness” information that indicates collaborators that are present and those that are sharing the workspace.

In one embodiment the communication device is configured to transmit and receive packets of data via a packet-switched network. In one configuration the communication device comprises an Interface device configured to Interface a voice communication network with a packet switched network. The C/C system may be configured to monitor or control aspects of the communication device including temperature, cooling device operation, security, drive operation, power supply output and power supply routing, system re-boots, or any other aspect of device operation. In one configuration the C/C system Interfaces with a remote location via a communication link, such as a packet switched network. A telemetry system coupled to a vehicle can communicate with a remote site using the overhead control channels of a wireless network, such as a cellular mobile radiotelephone network. The telemetry system can monitor or control aspects of the vehicle's operations based on remote user input. The telemetry system can take steps to reduce its consumption of electricity. When conditions warrant, the telemetry system can disable a driver's attempt to start the vehicle. An interface system and method are provided for communication between a medical monitoring apparatus designed to be worn by a patient and a remote base station using an established wireless network. The system comprises a data collection module configured to receive data relating to the medical monitoring apparatus. The data collection module comprises a port connected to the data collection module for coupling the data collection module to a portable communication device configured for wireless communication over the established wireless network. The data collection module further comprises a controller configured to transmit a message in response to the received data, wherein the message is transmitted to the remote base station via the port and the portable communication device. The controller can also be used to control aspects of the medical monitoring apparatus in response to instructions received from the remote base station via the portable communication device and the established wireless network.

Aspects of the invention relate to a turbine engine configuration and method for overcoming a turbine blade tip clearance problem that can arise when the turbine inlet temperature is maintained at a high level during part load operation of the turbine. Aspects of the invention relate to reducing rotor cooling air to a temperature below the design temperature level by using, for example, additional heat extraction devices or by reconfiguring or resizing existing heat exchanger devices. Upon exposure to the cooled air, the discs and blades of the turbine will shrink so as to provide a clearance between the blade tips and surrounding stationary support structure. The design rotor cooling air temperature can be from about 350 degrees Fahrenheit to about 480 degrees Fahrenheit. Aspects of the present invention can be used to decrease the rotor cooling air to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit at about 70 percent load.

The present invention provides a solution to manage and control document transmission and electronic communication. The invention discloses a control method for increasing asymmetrical fault ride-through capability of a wind power system. In the method, a super capacitance energy storage system is assessed between a machine side rectifier and a net side inverter on the basis of the prior art. On the control aspect, besides the control for the machine side rectifier and the net side inverter, the control for a super capacitance energy storage system is additionally provided in the method. Through controlling the coordination of the machine side rectifier and the net side inverter, a unit can realize the maximum wind energy tracking, grid-connected active and reactive power adjusting and grid-connected three-phase current symmetry and the stability of the voltage for a direct-current busbar between the machine side rectifier and the net side inverter when a power grid is normal is assured. The additionally provided super capacitance energy storage system is further controlled, the voltage stability of the direct-current busbar of the unit while the power grid has asymmetrical faults is assured, especially the grid-connected three-phase current symmetry is assured and the double power frequency ripple wave of the voltage of the direct-current busbar while the power grid has asymmetrical faults is removed so that the asymmetrical fault ride-through capability of the wind power system is enhanced.

An information signal to be communicated to a roof-mounted light bar or other electrical or electronic device travels over the vehicle's or other environment's power bus or other power conductor. In one exemplary illustrative non-limiting implementation, a modulated current load draws power supply current in an amount that is instantaneously responsive to at least some characteristic of the information signal to be communicated. This modulated current loading induces the vehicular or other power supply (e.g., DC battery) to modulate its output voltage in a manner that is responsive to the modulated current loading. A voltage sensor and demodulator also connected to the power bus senses the resulting voltage fluctuations and demodulates those fluctuations to recover or regenerate the original information signal.
