Inorganic matrix compositions and composites incorporating the matrix composition

A modified alkali silicate composition for forming an inorganic network matrix. The modified alkali silicate matrix is made by reacting an alkali silicate (or its precursors such as an alkali hydroxide, a SiO2 source and water), an acidic inorganic composition, such as a reactive glass, water and optional fillers, additives and processing aids. An inorganic matrix composite can be prepared by applying a slurry of the modified aqueous alkali silicate composition to a reinforcing medium and applying the temperature and pressure necessary to consolidate the desired form. The composite can be shaped by compression molding as well as other known fabrication methods. A notable aspect of the invention is that, although composite and neat resin components prepared from the invention can exhibit excellent dimensional stability to 1000° C. and higher, they can be prepared at the lower temperatures and pressures typical to organic polymer processing.

Polymeric Microgels for Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) Processing

Organic-inorganic composites were prepared as colloidal particles of a cross-linked, thermally responsive polymer. Hybrid PNIPAM-polysiloxane particles and composite polymeric particles with embedded nanoparticles of an inorganic metal-oxide (MOx) such as CeO2 and TiO2 were formed. To promote the incorporation of unaggregated nanoparticles, temperature responsive microspherical gels (microgels) of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) with interpenetrating (IP) linear chains of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) were used. The organic-inorganic composition of the hybrid polymer network was controlled by changing the time for condensation and hydrolysis of the siloxane monomer during synthesis. Experimental results indicated that the planarization of silicon oxide wafers using these hybrid particles and composites exhibited lower topographical variations and surface roughness as compared to slurries consisting of only silica or ceria nanoparticles while achieving similar removal rates and better or similar frictional characteristics.

The synergistic, reinforcing effect of the inorganic fine particle is increased, so that the high-strength material for bone fixation can be prepared. Also, the biocompatible fine particle is used, so that a long-term side effect can be reduced.

A process for the production of high attrition resistant inorganic compositions is provided. The formation of highly attrition resistant compositions is accomplished by forming a slurry of inorganic components, a binder, and optionally clay and matrix materials, milling the slurry, and cooling the milled slurry to a temperature below 17° C., preferably below 10° C. The cooled slurry is subjected to spray-drying, and optionally calcining and / or washing, to provide highly attrition resistant inorganic particles. Surface passivation treating liquid for organic-inorganic composite metals

The invention relates to organic and inorganic composition metal surface passivation treatment liquid, which relates to passivation treatment for improving the corrosion resistance of the surface of a galvanized sheet. The compositions of the passivation treatment liquid are: 10 to 25 percent of film former, 0.1 to 2 percent of inorganic passivator, 0.02 to 0.2 percent of corrosion inhibitor, 0.5 to 5 percent of passivation solution stabilizer, and curing agent which is 1 to 5 percent of the weight of the organic film former. Compared with the prior art, the organic film former in the organic and inorganic composition metal surface passivation treatment liquid is taken as framework material to take effect; inorganic additives stand aloof from the reaction during the film forming process and are coated in an organic film; when the organic film is damaged, the inorganic additives generate secondary passivation effect through a wet liquid film on a breakage and generate the 'natural cure' function, thereby a passivating film with good corrosion resistance is obtained. The organic and inorganic composition metal surface passivation treatment liquid can completely replace chromate to realize preparation of the environment-friendly passivating film.
