1169 results about "Insect repellent" patented technology

An insect repellent (also commonly called "bug spray") is a substance applied to skin, clothing, or other surfaces which discourages insects (and arthropods in general) from landing or climbing on that surface. Insect repellents help prevent and control the outbreak of insect-borne (and other arthropod-bourne) diseases such as malaria, Lyme disease, dengue fever, bubonic plague, river blindness and West Nile fever. Pest animals commonly serving as vectors for disease include insects such as flea, fly, and mosquito; and the arachnid tick.

Traditional Chinese medicine mosquito-repelling air-sterilizing air refreshing agent

The invention provides an air refreshing agent of traditional Chinese medicine for dispelling mosquito and sterilizing. The prescription of the invention, which is calculated according to the weight percentage, is 1 percent to 3 percent of essential oil of southernwood, 1 percent to 3 percent of essential oil of eucalyptus leaf, 2 percent to 3 percent of excipient, 1 percent to 3 percent of solubilizer, 0.5 percent to 1 percent of preservative, 0.5 percent to 1 percent of coagulant, 50 percent to 80 percent of solvent, 5 percent to 10 percent of essence and 0.5 percent to 1 percent of pigment, wherein the excipient is sodium alginate, gelatin and agar; the solubilizer is the tween series (40, 60 and 80); the preservative is sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate; the coagulant is calcium carbonate or calcium chloride; the solvent is water. The invention uses the traditional Chinese medicinal materials of the essential oil of southernwood and the essential oil of eucalyptus leaf as the main component for dispelling mosquito and sterilizing to replace a traditional chemical mosquito-dispelling and sterilizing agent with toxic and side effect, and the invention is nontoxic and innoxious to human body and is a green and environmental protective product and can be applied widely.

Multi-layer reaction mixtures and apparatuses for delivering a volatile component via a controlled exothermic reaction

Multi-layer reaction mixtures that includes exothermic generating particles having a water soluble coating encasing a portion of the particles, a volatile component and, optionally, a buffer, an aqueous solution or both. At least two layers of the reaction mixture contain exothermic generating particles and at least one layer of the reaction mixture contains a portion of the exothermic generating particles suspended in a gel that includes the water soluble coating. These multi-layer reaction mixtures are especially suited to generate heat in a controllable manner. In one such controlled reaction, the reaction components are mixed together and the reaction mixture increases in temperature to a Set Temperature within a predetermined time, and the mixture remains at the Set Temperature for a longer period of time. In this manner, volatile components can be controllably released to the surrounding environment. The volatile components can be, for example, a perfume, a fragrance, an insect repellent, a fumigant, a disinfectant, a bactericide, an insecticide, a pesticide, a germicide, an acaricide, a sterilizer, a deodorizer, a fogging agent and mixtures of these. Apparatuses and methods that use these multi-layer reaction mixtures are also disclosed.
