Streamlined, readily towable marine seismic energy source for creating intense swept-frequency and pulse-coded signals in a body of water

Streamlined, towable, marine seismic energy vibrator for creating intense swept-frequency and pulse-coded seismic signals in a body of water has a sleek, fish-like configuration designed for towing with minimum drag. The vibrator has a streamlined hollow towing head and a streamlined hollow tail head mounted onto front and rear of a long cylindrical tubular wall which is modular, comprising cylinder sections joined in end-to-end axial alignment. Within this long tubular cylinder wall is an axially vibratable multi-piston assembly having a plurality of pistons on a long piston rod. One piston is positioned in each of the cylinder chambers. These chambers hive multiple ports opening out through the long cylindrical wall. An elongated circular cylindrical elastomeric bladder forms a water-filled bladder chamber encircling the wall. An actuator piston is vibrated by a remotely controllably hydraulic circuit, thereby vibrating the multi-piston assembly for vibrating water out and in through multiple ports communicating with the water-filled bladder chamber for vibrating the exterior of the bladder shown having diameter "D" of 18 inches and length "L" of 118.5 inches, providing a 6,700 square inch vibration area contacting the ambient water. A multi-piston position sensor enables synchronization of the vibrator with companion sources being towed. An axial passage in the long piston rod feeds low-pressure compressed air into the cylinder chambers forming air cushions behind the pistons vibrating water in these cylinder chambers.

Gas generating process for propulsion and hydrogen production

A gas generating process, which is for the continuous production of energy and hydrogen for rocket and other propulsion and is also for the continuous production of hydrogen, utilizes the reaction of metallic materials, particularly aluminum, with organic materials, particularly hydrocarbons provided as jet fuel, and with water or an oxidizer which is predominantly water. In comparison with related reactions, the reaction produces hot gases containing more hydrogen and the products have a lower temperature for the same specific impulse. The process incorporates organic liquids with metallic powders to produce desirable, lower molecular weight exhaust gas products; and the increased hydrogen is desirable for use with a fuel cell and in connection with propulsion of a super-cavitating underwater device. The process is advantageous in that a metal, in powdered form, and a hydrocarbon liquid may be provided together as a slurry or gel for effective metering. The metallic material may also be provided with the organic material in the form of a binder as used in solid propellants, and the organic material and water may be provided together in the form of a water containing liquid monopropellant. The hydrogen containing product gases from the reaction may be further reacted with suitable oxidizers for production of additional energy or steam. The reaction is particularly useful for underwater vehicles where ambient water is available and the reaction products may be used for propulsion.

Preparation of heavy metal cadmium polyclonal antibody and method for measuring enzyme linked immunity absorption

The invention discloses a preparation of polyclonal antibody of heavy metal cadmium, and a measurement method for enzyme linked immunosorbent. The preparation of polyclonal antibody of heavy metal cadmium includes steps of : (A) synthesis of complete antigen, which is critical for preparation of the polyclonal antibody; (B) preparation of the antibody. The measurement method for enzyme linked immunosorbent includes: (1) determining optimal reaction concentration of coating source Cd-ITCBE-OVA and antibody by matrix titration, and coating 96-well enzyme label plate by coating source Cd-ITCBE-OVA with optimal concentration; (2) direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; (3) examining impact of various reaction condition on CI-ELISA, and optimizing reaction condition; (4) establishing CI-ELISA, drawing standard inhibition curve under optimized reaction condition. Detection limit of the invention is 0.04 mu g/L, linear range is 10-1-103mu g/L. The invention is specific to cadmium, suitable for measurement of trace cadmium in ambient water. The invention also provides technical support in fast in-situ detection for sudden accident of heavy metal pollution, in order to carry out remedy and recovery for pollution accident in time.

Method and apparatus for controlling drainage and irrigation of fields

A method of and apparatus for controlling drainage/irrigation of a field includes laying out a network of drainage tiles, which typically may include a main line and a number of lateral lines, extending from higher elevations to lower elevations and exiting through a manually controlled main valve to a drainage ditch.
A series of level-responsive valves are incorporated in the main and lateral lines at selected elevations. Each level-responsive valve is normally open until the ambient water level reaches a predetermined level relative to the valve. When the manual valve is closed and a certain level of water is reached adjacent a level-responsive valve, it causes that level-responsive valve to close, thereby cutting off drainage of higher elevations. When it is desired to retain water at higher elevations in a field, the manual valve is closed permitting water to accumulate and be retained at higher elevations by closing the level-responsive valves in sequence at progressively higher elevations as the level of retained water rises, thereby causing a cascading or “terracing” of water stored at upper levels. When the manual valve is opened, the field drains normally. The level-responsive valve may be a flotation valve. A modification of a flotation type level-responsive valve includes an overflow tube which permits excessive water at higher placement elevations to bypass the closed level-responsive valves, thereby permitting the field to drain under conditions of excess water into a standpipe at the manual valve.

Durable organic matter large-volume water sample separation and concentration device

The invention belongs to the field of an environmental water sample separation and concentration device, and particularly relates to a durable organic matter large-volume water sample separation and concentration device. The device comprises a liquid storage bottle, and a filter, a receiving bottle, a safety bottle and a vacuum pump, which are movably connected with the liquid storage bottle, wherein a top cover with a water inlet is arranged above the liquid storage bottle, and the water inlet is connected with a sample feeding pipe; a safety bottle is arranged between the receiving bottle and the vacuum pump; and the filter is provided with two layers of filter plates, a sand core is clamped inside an intubation tube below a glass funnel, and a concentration layer is arranged above the sand core. Due to the adoption of the device, the samples can be separated and concentrated on the sampling field; and since the filter is provided with the two layers of filter plates, and the concentration layer is arranged inside the intubation tube, not only can suspended particles containing the durable organic matters be separated and the filter speed and filter efficiency be improved, but also the dissolved durable organic matters can be effectively concentrated, so that the pollution level and the distribution principle of the durable organic matters in two phases of the environmental water sample can be more conveniently researched.
