445 results about "Tick" patented technology

Ticks are arachnids, typically 3 to 5 mm long, part of the order Parasitiformes. Along with mites, they constitute the subclass Acari. Ticks are external parasites, living by feeding on the blood of mammals, birds, and sometimes reptiles and amphibians. Ticks evolved by the Cretaceous period, the most common form of fossilisation being amber immersion. Ticks are widely distributed around the world, especially in warm, humid climates.

Method and system for quickly identifying and counting votes on the basis of layout analysis

The invention provides a method for quickly identifying and counting votes on the basis of layout analysis. The format of vote can be self-defined by electoral units; images of votes are collected by a high-speed scanner; furthermore, a semantic database is established for key symbols such as tick, fork, ring or filling-typed small diamonds; comprehension capability of computer on the vote images is enhanced by the mapping between the symbol data and the semanteme. The method comprises the steps (1) the votes are scanned as vote images; (2) the vote images are pre-processed and pre-defined semantic database of the vote symbols is proposed; (3) inclination correction of the vote images are corrected; (4) table line is detected and extracted; (5) symbols are detected and extracted; (6) symbols are recognized; (7) the recognized structure is memorized in the database. The invention also provides a system for quickly identifying and counting votes on the basis of layout analysis. The method and the system have strong adaptability, high exactness and improve the working efficiency.

Adaptive Auto Meter Detection Method based on Character Segmentation and Cascade Classifier

An adaptive automobile meter detection method based on character segmentation cascade classifier which processes threshold segmentation, morphology and connected components analysis on the original image; extracts the pointer based on the contour analysis method, establishes a pointer information list; constructs a character segmentation cascade classifier by combining a HOG / SVM character segmentation classifier, a character filter and a CNN digit classifier. The character segmentation cascade classifiers is used to identify the digit character area of the automobile meter. Region analysis is performed to extract tick marks based on the center of the digit character area. The angular position corresponding to the tick mark is determined. The response value corresponding to the pointer is determined by establishing the Newton interpolation linear description relationship between the pointer angle and the response value and then the meter is classified as pass or fail. The invention is suitable for the field of visual inspection of automobile meter pointers.

Method and apparatus for enhancing in-situ gas flow measurement performance

An in-situ gas flow measurement controller measures the temperature and rate of pressure drop upstream from a flow control device (FCD). The controller samples the pressure and temperature data and applies the equivalent of a decimating filter to the data to produce filtered data at a slower sampling rate. The controller derives timestamps by counting ticks from the sampling clock of the A / D converter that is sampling the pressure at regular intervals to ensure the timestamps associated with the pressure samples are accurate and do not contain jitter that is associated with software clocks. The controller additionally normalizes the temperature reading to account for power supply fluctuations, filters out noise from the pressure and temperature readings, and excludes data during periods of instability. It calculates the gas flow rate accounting for possible non-linearities in the pressure measurements, and provides the computed gas flow measurement via one of many possible interfaces.

A semi-flexible insecticide strip is removably attached to the belt of a pelt collar to regenerate a pest-killing medicament and increase its efficacy. The strip is secured to the belt surface that faces the animal skin or fur by attachment loops or edged retainers that are generally perpendicular to the length direction of the belt. Due to the geometry and elasticity of the semi-flexible insecticide strip, and its attachment method, the strip contacts the skin or fur of the animal despite movement of the pet collar when the animal is being exercised with a pet leash attached thereto. The contact effectively transfers the insecticide and kills ticks and fleas or retards development of mature flea adults. The insecticide is contained within a plurality of plastic pores of the insecticide strip or in a sponge affixed thereto.

Interface to expose interrupt times to hardware

A power management controller is used to control power management states of a processing device. A register stores a timer tick value accessible to the power management controller. The timer tick value indicates when an interrupt is to occur in the processing device. The power management controller may use the exposed timer tick value to decide whether to transition between power management states such as an active state, an idle state, and a power-gated state. The timer tick value stored in the register may be modified by an operating system, an application, or software implemented on the processing device.

Diagnostic test for borrelia infection

Bites from Amblyomma americanum, a hard tick, have been associated with a Lyme disease-like illness in the southeastern and south-central United States. Present in 2% of ticks collected in four states were uncultivable spirochetes. Through use of the polymerase chain reaction, partial sequences of the flagellin and 16s rRNA genes of microorganisms from Texas and New Jersey were obtained. The sequences showed that the spirochete was a Borrelia sp. but distinct from other known members of this genus, including B. burgdorferi, the agent of Lyme disease. Species-specific differences in the sequences of the flagellin protein, the flagellin gene and the 16s rRNA gene between the new Borrelia species and previously known species provide compositions and methods for assay for determining the presence of this new spirochete, or for providing evidence of past or present infection by this spirochete in animal reservoirs and humans.
