Compositions and methods for controlling
plant-parasitic nematodes using naturally derived fungal strains are provided. The compositions comprise one or more fungi selected from
Trichoderma koningiopsis NC.184,
Metarhizium NC.244, Clonostachys NC.261, Clonostachys NC.359, Clonostachys NC.297, an unidentified
Hypocreales fungus NC.311, Pseudozyma pruni NC.423,
Clonostachys rosea NC.480,
Metarhizium anisopliae NC.374, Plectosphaerella cucumerina NC.438, or products, isolates, or extracts derived therefrom, optionally in combination with surfactants or additional active ingredients. Formulations include sprays, powders, granules, seed coatings, emulsions, and microencapsulated products. Methods of producing fungal materials and methods of applying the compositions to plants, seeds, or soil to reduce
nematode populations are also provided. The compositions are effective against agriculturally important nematodes, including soybean
cyst, root-knot,
lesion, sting, and corn needle nematodes, and may improve
plant health and yield. The invention enables biologically based
nematode management for crops such as soybean and corn.
