The plant of Qust, which is known as costus is two meter in length and creeps on the ground. It is generally found in the marshy and wet places along the rivers at the heights up to 5000 fts. These plants are found extensively in north west and north east sub Himalayan regions along the course of rivers. The Plant bears big serrated leaves, but the roots are being used for medicinal purpose. The roots are collected in the month of September and October. These are cut into small pieces and sold in the market. Morphologically these look like liquorice roots but are very much fragrant. The labourers working on the hills used to prepare this to ward off the cold and it is a nutritive tonic. The oil extracted from its root contains the following chemical constituents: CAMPHENE, PHELLANDRENE, TERPENE ALCOHOL, A-COSTENE, B-COSTENE, APLOTAXENE, COSTOL, DI-HYDRO COSTUS LACTONE, COSTUS LACTONE AND VOSTIC ACID.

The present application relates to the technical field of traditional Chinese medicine preparation, and particularly relates to a stone incense preparation for relieving high-temperature stress reaction and a preparation method thereof. The stone incense preparation preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing Atractylodes lancea and Herba Pogostemi, adding water to extract, collecting volatile oil and water extract, and obtaining dregs; adding β-cyclodextrin to water, adding the obtained volatile oil to the water, homogenizing, then ultrasonic treating, and freeze-drying; then adding sodium alginate to water and stirring, adding sodium tripolyphosphate aqueous solution dropwise to the water under stirring, and spray drying to obtain the inclusion volatile oil; mixing the obtained dregs, Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex, Gypsum Fibrosum, Saussurea lappa and Glycyrrhiza uralensis, adding composite enzyme and water, enzymolysis, enzyme inactivation, ultrasonic extraction, and filtering; mixing the filtrate and the obtained water extract, standing overnight, filtering, reducing pressure concentration of the filtrate, drying, crushing, poloxamer 188 surface spraying, and freeze-drying to obtain extract powder; uniformly mixing the extract powder, the inclusion volatile oil and dextrin, screening to prepare granules, and drying and whole-graining.
