A smart battery charger is mainly a switch mode power supply (also known as high frequency charger) that has the ability to communicate with a smart battery pack's battery management system (BMS) in order to control and monitor the charging process. This communication may be by a standard bus such as CAN bus in automobiles or System Management Bus (SMBus) in computers. The charge process is controlled by the BMS and not by the charger, thus increasing security in the system. Not all chargers have this type of communication which is commonly used for lithium batteries.

The present invention provides a battery charger capable of charging a plurality of secondary batteries which are used in different types of apparatuses, such as an electric vehicle and a mobile power supply unit, in a simultaneous or concurrent manner without largely occupying an installation space on the ground. A DC power supply section 22 includes a plurality of DC stabilized power supply circuits each operable to supply an output according to required electric power, therefrom in an independent manner. Specifically, based on information from each of a plurality of secondary batteries, and information set up/input through a setup/input section, one of or a combination of two or more of the DC stabilized power supply circuits is selected for each of the secondary batteries. Then, an electric power supply line between the selected one of or the selected combination of two or more of the DC stabilized power supply circuits and each of the secondary batteries to be charged is configured, and an output of the selected one of or the selected combination of two or more of the DC stabilized power supply circuits is adjusted. This makes it possible to configure respective electric power supply lines for the secondary batteries to allow the secondary batteries to be concurrently charged, and adjust respective electric power amounts to be supplied to the secondary batteries, individually.

The invention relates to a test device for a charging control process of a DC battery charger of an electric automobile and an implementation method of the device. The test device comprises an acquisition unit, a control guide circuit, a control unit, a battery management analog unit, a process state analog unit and a man-machine interaction unit, wherein the acquisition unit is used for acquiring output voltage/currents of a plug of the DC battery charger, a control guide signal, a communication signal and an auxiliary power supply value and transmitting data to the man-machine interaction unit in real-time; the control guide circuit is used for realizing a control guide function of the electric automobile on the DC battery charger; and the control unit is used for controlling a charging state and a communication process and realizing switching of various states of the charging process. The test device tests the correctness and the reliability of a control process and time series changes in a charging stage according to requirements of an IEC 61851-23 appendix system B and a GB/T 20234.3-2011 system. The device and the method are closer to an actual working state of the DC battery charger, and test results can reflect the performance of the DC battery charger more comprehensively and accurately.
