A system and method for the control of color-based lighting through voice control or speech recognition as well as a syntax for use with such a system. In this approach, the spoken voice (in any language) can be used to more naturally control effects without having to learn the myriad manipulation required of some complex controller interfaces. A simple control language based upon spoken words consisting of commands and values is constructed and used to provide a common base for lighting and system control.

Methods and apparatus for executing a lighting program to control a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) in response to at least one characteristic of an audio input. In one embodiment, the audio input is digitally processed to determine the at least one characteristic. In other embodiments, control signals for the LEDs are generated in response to a timer and/or input from a user interface, as well as in response to the at least one characteristic of the audio input. In another embodiment, the control signals for the LEDs are generated by a same computer that processes the audio input to transmit signals to speakers to audibly play the audio input. In a further embodiment, a GUI is provided to assist in authoring the lighting program. In another embodiment, the audio signal is processed before being played back. In a further embodiment, the lighting program anticipates changes in the audio input.

A rope light track system houses a tubular flexible rope light string and can be mounted on or in various interior and exterior structures to protect the light string from damage and provide utilitarian and decorative lighting. A pet tracking collar comprises a length of clear flexible tubing having a fastener adapted to fasten around the pet. This invention relates to the functional features of lighting devices, particularly, the structure of refractors of an LED decoration lighting set. It is composed of a decorative part made of transparent materials and an illuminant. The illuminant is activated by an external power supply and is incorporated into the decorative part. Bubbles are found uniformly and densely in the decorative part in a region which intersects the light emitted from the illuminant. The bubbles enable the decorative part to become a combination of a spherical concave and convex lens. When the light emitted from the light-emitting part is transmitted to the decorative part, a large amount of non-sequential diversion, conversion, refraction and reflection will take place to significantly change the original transmission path of the light beam. This solves the problem of the small viewing angle of a traditional LED decoration lighting set.

A control system for a water amusement system is described. The control system is configured to operate the water amusement system to produce water effects, sound effects, and/or light effects when the control system receives an activation signal. The activation signal may be sent to the control system by an activation point, such as an optical touch button, or a water target. The control system is further configured to produce water effects, sound effects, and/or light effects in the absence of an activation signal to attract participants to the water amusement system.

The invention relates to a lighting device and a method of manufacturing such a lighting device. The lighting device (1) comprises a first light emitting element (101) being optically coupled to a light guide (110) having an out-coupling surface (111) for illumination via the light guide. Further, the lighting device comprises a second light emitting element (102) dedicated for direct illumination from the lighting device. A system and method is disclosed for reconstructing high frequency components of a digital audio signal using a harmonic enhancer in a baseband integrated circuit of a receiver handset. The original spectrum of the digital audio signal is upsampled in a times two (2) upsample unit to double the size of the bandwidth. A low pass filter then removes a high frequency alias of the original spectrum. The spectrum is then modulated with a first carrier frequency and sent to a first filter bank where a low pass filter and a high pass filter shape the modulated harmonic spectrum. After gain adjustment, the modulated harmonic spectrum is added to a delayed version of the original spectrum. Additional harmonic spectra are similarly created at other carrier frequencies and added to the audio output spectra to reconstruct high frequency components of the audio signal.

An illuminating device includes: an illuminating board having a plate-like transparent board, a reflector provided on a back surface of the transparent board to reflect light, and a cloudy, translucent medium provided on a front surface of the transparent board; a support member supporting an end of the illuminating board in a cantilever fashion, so as to provide a free end for the other end of the illuminating board; a light emitting portion, arranged beside the supported end of the illuminating board, that emits light to the transparent board at the supported end; and an emission control unit that causes the light emitting portion to emit light.

A flotation device includes a pocket formed within its hollow body in open communication with an exterior surface thereof and a hollow housing mounted in the pocket. Illuminatable fiber optic strands are disposed in a predetermined pattern within the hollow body each having a light receiving end thereof protruding into the pocket through a wall thereof in an air impermeable manner and further into the housing. An illumination source is mounted inside the housing in close proximity to the light receiving ends of the fiber optic strands and a power source is also disposed within the housing and operatively coupled to the illumination source. A switch is provided and is manually operable by a user to operate the illumination source causing the strands to emit light.

Various techniques for synchronizing illumination with an audio signal are disclosed. According to one aspect of the techniques, an audio signal continuously is received and processed one phase or period at a time in an analyzing or detecting unit. From one phase of the audio signal, a set of light controlling parameters are determined from a look-up-table. These light controlling parameters are used to adjust duty cycles of square waves used to drive a plurality of light sources such that the illumination produced is in accordance with the audio signal.

An embodiment of the present invention is directed to a method and system for electronic sensing of string instrument input. The method includes receiving a first signal from a peak detection circuit. The peak detection circuit is operable to sense string activation. A second signal is received from one or more capacitive sensors. The second signal may include finger placement information. The method further includes processing the first and the second signals to generate an audio signal and outputting the audio signal.
