Method of generating an implementation of reusable parts from containers of a workflow process-model

Method for automatically generating an implementation of input and output container reusable parts for a process model managed and executed by at least one computer system. The method of generating uses the specification of a process model extended by specifications associating the process model to a reusable part environment outside the workflow process environment and generates an implementation of said input and output containers as reusable parts residing within said reusable parts environment. The method of generating comprises an analysis of the specifications of said process model. Based on this analysis the method generates the associated input container reusable parts and associated output container reusable parts as implementations of said input and output containers.

Computational pathology systems and methods for early-stage cancer prognosis

ActiveUS20170270666A1Reduce computing costInformed choiceImage enhancementImage analysisComputational pathologyLow risk group
The subject disclosure presents systems and computer-implemented methods for providing reliable risk stratification for early-stage cancer patients by predicting a recurrence risk of the patient and to categorize the patient into a high or low risk group. A series of slides depicting serial sections of cancerous tissue are automatically analyzed by a digital pathology system, a score for the sections is calculated, and a Cox proportional hazards regression model is used to stratify the patient into a low or high risk group. The Cox proportional hazards regression model may be used to determine a whole-slide scoring algorithm based on training data comprising survival data for a plurality of patients and their respective tissue sections. The coefficients may differ based on different types of image analysis operations applied to either whole-tumor regions or specified regions within a slide.

Infusion system for preventing mischanneling of multiple medicaments

Exemplary embodiments provide a multi-medicament infusion system (10) for preventing the mischanneling of medicaments. The system may include an infusion pump (12), medicament reservoirs (16A,16B), a multi-channel lumen (18), and an infusion set (20). The medicament reservoirs may be sized and shaped differently such that the medicament reservoirs can only be inserted into the infusion pump in a unique configuration. The multi-channel lumen may include connectors that mate to corresponding connectors on the infusion pump and the infusion set only in a unique configuration. Because the various parts of the multi-infusion system may only be connected in the unique configuration, the expected medicaments may be administered appropriately and channeled to the correct infusion sites.

FUSION GENE OF Kif5b GENE AND Ret GENE, AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING EFFECTIVENESS OF CANCER TREATMENT TARGETING FUSION GENE

In order to identify a gene that can serve as an indicator for predicting the effectiveness of a drug treatment of cancer and to provide a novel method for predicting the effectiveness of a drug treatment targeting said gene, lung adenocarcinomas were subjected to whole-transcriptome sequencing. As a result, in-frame fusion transcripts between the KIF5B gene and the RET gene were identified. The KIF5B-RET gene fusions were detected in 6 out of 319 (2%) LADC specimens from Japanese individuals and 1 out of 80 (1%) LADC specimens from U.S.A. individuals. None of the seven subjects revealed known activating mutations such as EGFR, KRAS or ALK oncogenes; thus, said gene fusions were found to be responsible mutations (driver mutations) for oncogenesis. Since said gene fusions are considered to induce constitutive activation of RET tyrosine kinase protein, it was found that treatments with RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors are effective in patients with detection of said gene fusions.

High penetration compositions (HPC) of a parent compound, which are capable of crossing biological barriers with high penetration efficiency. The HPCs are capable of being converted to parent drugs or parent drug-related compounds such as metabolites after crossing one or more biological barriers and thus can render treatments for the conditions that the parent drugs or parent drug-related compounds can. Additionally, the HPCs are capable of reaching areas that their parent drugs or parent drug-related compounds may not be able to access or to render a sufficient concentration at the target areas HPCs of NSAIA, for example, have demonstrated indications such as treating hair loss. A HPC can be administered to a subject through various administration routes, e.g., locally delivered to an action site of a condition with a high concentration or systematically administered to a biological subject and enter the general circulation with a faster rate.

Thumb ring insert for a syringe

A thumb ring insert that reduces the effective size of a syringe thumb ring thumb passage. The insert comprises a thumb aperture adapted to receive a user's thumb in a comfortable fit with the aperture eccentric from the thumb ring passage, located close to a thumb ring bottom where an end of a syringe plunger connects to the thumb ring. Thus, range of movement between aspiration and expression of the syringe is reduced as free float of the thumb in the thumb ring is effectively eliminated. With the insert aperture close to the thumb ring bottom, the expanse between the user's thumb and fingers is also reduced when aspirating. The insert further comprises a moderately pliable circumference groove about the insert that matches the syringe thumb ring receivable therein by snapping the insert into place in the thumb ring passage with groove rims being resiliently distorted in allowing the thumb ring to pass into the groove.

High penetration prodrug compositions of peptides and peptide-related compounds

The invention provides compositions of novel high penetration compositions (HPC) or high penetration prodrugs (HPP) of peptides and peptide-related compounds, which are capable of crossing biological barriers with higher penetration efficiency comparing to their parent drugs. The HPPs are capable of being converted to parent drugs or drug metabolites after crossing the biological barrier and thus can render treatments for the conditions that the parent drugs or metabolites can. Additionally, the HPPs / HPCs are capable of reaching areas that parent drugs may not be able to access or to render a sufficient concentration at the target areas and therefore render novel treatments. The HPPs / HPCs can be administered to a subject through various administration routes, e.g., locally delivered to an action site of a condition with a high concentration or systematically administered to a biological subject and enter the general circulation with a faster rate.

Air tolerant implantable piston pump

An implantable infusion device includes a reservoir for housing an infusion medium and a drive mechanism having an inlet chamber, a piston and a piston channel. The inlet chamber is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The piston channel is in fluid communication with the inlet chamber, and has a distal end and a proximal end, the proximal end being closer to the inlet channel than the distal end. The piston is axially moveable within the piston channel to drive infusion medium out of the distal end of the piston channel. The clearance between the piston and the channel is sufficiently small to prevent undissolved gas in the inlet chamber from passing through the clearance. The inlet chamber may be sufficiently large to allow undissolved gas to accumulate without adversely affecting the performance of the infusion device.
