Unitary molded lens filter for touch screen interface

A durable unitary lens filter is provided for use with a touch sensitive display device for associated control process equipment. A front cover secures the unitary lens filter to the machine. The lens assembly includes a mounting bezel that supports an intermediate lens securing an integral rear lens filter through which a responsive display shows process information to an operator. The front cover captivates the integral bezel to secure the lens to the associated process device. The lens is molded from a semi-rigid material composition including glass fibers. An internal retainer compressibly captivates the bezel against the front cover. The bezel periphery extends substantially beyond the outermost peripheral edge of the rear lens so that forces thereto are transferred and dissipated to the machine housing.

Apparatus for optically-based sorting within liquid core waveguides

The present invention is related to an apparatus for the sorting of particles in a fluid medium flowing within a liquid-core waveguide, by combining customized light intensity patterns formed inside the waveguide, and diluting the suspension of particles (i.e., cells, blood, nanoparticles, etc.) flowing within the fluid medium of the waveguide. With this customized light intensity pattern, which controls the optical forces introduced by the light confined within the waveguide, and the control of the hydrodynamic forces introduced by the liquid flow (or multiple channel liquid flows), the sorting of particles can be achieved.

Container End Closure With Optional Secondary Vent Opening

The present invention relates to an opening device for a beverage container. More specifically, the invention relates to a metal end closure having a primary opening area and at least one optional secondary vent opening which can be opened with the same pull tab. The primary opening area of the metal end closure may be opened by utilizing a pull tab interconnected to a central panel, the pull tab being adapted for applying a downward force to form a first opening. Subsequently, the pull tab is rotated and the tail end lifted to form a second opening in the end closure.

Device and method for locating anatomical cavity in a body

A device (1) is designed for locating a region which is situated in a body (10). The device has a fluid-filled reservoir (30) which is closed off in a sealed manner by a displaceable plunger (32) and is connected to a hollow puncture needle (20). To measure the pressure prevailing in the fluid, the device has a pressure gauge (40). A signal converter (50) is used to convert a continuous pressure-measurement signal provided by the pressure gauge (40) into a form which is suitable for further processing. A synthesizer (60) is designed to process the converted pressure-measurement signal into a continuous sound signal which is representative of the pressure. If, during a displacement of the puncture needle (20), a needle point (21) reaches the anatomical cavity (15), the result is a readily perceptible change in the sound signal. The device records the pressure-measurement signal over the course of time.

Ratchet type tensioner

In a ratchet tensioner, a pawl, pivoted on a shaft in the tensioner housing, engages teeth on a plunger protruding from the housing to allow protruding movement of the plunger, while limiting retracting movement to a backlash distance. The pawl is biased into contact with the teeth on the plunger by a spring disposed in a hole in the housing and acting, through a piston slidable in the same hole, against a convexly curved surface of the pawl. The piston has a reduced portion in engagement with the pawl, which allows the pawl to be miniaturized without excessively reducing the radial dimensions of the portion of the pawl surrounding the pivot shaft.

Electrical switch with positive status indication

InactiveUS20080308393A1Long lastingWithstand large forceTumbler/rocker switchesRotary switchActuator
An electrical switch includes a rotary switch actuator device, and an actuator locking device. The actuator locking device inhibits the rotation of the rotary switch actuator device when the contacts of the switch are closed. Only when the operator tries to open the switch with an operating handle and the contacts do actually open, a lock release device will release the actuator locking device, and allow the operator to move the operator handle to the position corresponding to the open condition. When the contacts do not open, e.g., because they are welded, the actuator locking device will remain locked and the handle movement is blocked. This provides a robust and safe switch that never gives a false “OFF” indication.

Grip-over knife

The present invention is a culinary knife, intended for one handed use, comprising a handle and a blade having a cutting edge as its bottom perimeter. The entire length of the handle of the knife is joined contiguously against the spine of the blade leaving no aperture between them. This joining of the handle and blade results in the user gripping onto rather than around the handle of the knife. The handle does not extend beyond the rear of the blade, thus the user grips the knife above part of the cutting edge. This provides the user the ability to apply direct downward force for cutting and provides enhanced ability to use the palm and digits to apply finely directed force and movement to the knife. Both the location of the user hand and its proximity to the blade further enhance fine control and ease of use of the knife.
