The method comprises: assigning a plurality of test gray scales and a reference gray scale, detecting the actual brightness of each pixel when the display panel inputs each test gray scale and the reference gray scale, and calculating the test gray scale average brightness and the reference gray scale average brightness of the display panel; determining a first gamma value corresponding to each test gray scale according to the test gray scale average brightness and the reference gray scale average brightness; dividing the total gray scale into n gray scale areas, and determining a second gamma value corresponding to an ith gray scale area according to the first gamma value corresponding to each test gray scale located at the ith gray scale area; and determining the correction relative brightness of the pixel in any gray scale according to the actual brightness of any one pixel in the maximum gray scale and the second gamma value corresponding to each gray scale area. The method of gray scale correction of the display panel realizes correction of each pixel located at different gray scale areas through adoption of different second gamma values so as to improve the display quality of the display panel.
