A sanitizing system uses ultraviolet light within a housing having an interior chamber. When items such as shopping carts or wheel chairs are moved into and out of the interior chamber, a cover is moved to reduce the light shining out of the housing. The cover is coordinated with the door of the housing to limit light shining on the users of the system. In another configuration, a switch is used to turn off the light source to reduce the light shining out of the housing when items such as shopping carts or wheel chairs are moved into and out of the interior chamber. In both of the systems described above, the sanitizing system may use a single sanitizing source such as a UV light source or a combination of sanitizing systems such as a UV light source in combination with a source of disinfecting plasma.

A video output device includes a signal converter for generating a video signal corresponding to displayed video; a projector and a main screen for displaying the video based on the video signal output from the signal converter; left and right lighting units, a left screen, and a right screen disposed in the vicinity of the main screen; and a feature extractor, a left-lighting setting unit, and a right-lighting setting unit for controlling lighting modes of the left and right lighting units based on the content of the displayed video in synchronization with the display timing of the video.

The activation of lights of a mobile communication terminal is controlled with information in music data files, such as SP-MIDI files. The music data files contain note events informating the terminal to play a note of a particular instrument. Light configuration messages are added to the SP-MIDI file. The light configuration messages contain information mapping the activation position, -color and -intensity to the note events. The mobile terminal is provided with an editor application for creating and changing light configuration messages. The light configuration messages can also be created and changed with a light configuration program on a PC. The light configuration messages can be tested on a PC with a MIDI editor program provided with a plug in application for emulating the mobile communication terminal.

A fundus camera is provided with auxiliary optical components and a plurality of projected alignment marks, wherein the alignment marks are in focus and coincident on the iris of the eye when the fundus camera is correctly aligned and the auxiliary optical components allow the alignment marks to be observed as an anterior view in focus, replacing part of the view of the eye fundus which is also in focus in the same view. The auxiliary view optical components may be linked to the focus of the observation system and the associated projected focus indicating marks such that all remain in adequate focus to enable the alignment and focus of the fundus camera to be performed satisfactorily.

A vehicle headlamp is provided with: a reflector having reflecting surfaces made of a parabola-based free curved face; and semiconductor-type light sources having a light emitting chip shaped like a planar rectangle. In an embodiment, a unitized overhead glazing system of the present invention includes an array of assembled structural framing cassettes each having at least five photovoltaic modules. In an embodiment, each cassette forms one electrical string and is pre-wired, tested, and shipped ready to install for a variety of applications, including, but not limited to, parking canopies, covered walkways and specialty awnings. An edge emitting laser with circular beam using a low-carrier-mobility diluted nitride semiconductor material for an epitaxy light-emitting layer is disclosed. The low-carrier-mobility material can greatly suppress surface recombination of carriers. The epitaxy structure established on the substrate surface includes, from bottom to top, a bottom cladding layer, a bottom waveguide layer, a light-emitting layer, an upper waveguide layer, an upper cladding layer, and an electrode contact layer. The light-emitting layer is formed from a diluted nitride material. Etching is performed from the epitaxy structure through the light-emitting layer, forming a ridge waveguide that has a large reflective index difference between the light-emitting layer and the dielectric passivation layer.

In particular, it is envisaged that the spot-cultivation system will be most commonly used in situations where a defined area of ground is required to be prepared prior to the planting of individual seedling trees. According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a spot-cultivation system including an accessory (1) for spot-cultivation, attachment apparatus capable of attaching the accessory to a vehicle, and at least two ground-working devices (4, 5) held in a fixed relationship to each other so that the area of ground worked by the devices is defined by the fixed relationship.

A dual power binocular (13) is provided which can be rapidly switched between a low magnification setting (wider field of view) and a high magnification setting (narrower field of view). Preferably, the switching is performed using a switch (17) mounted on, for example, the bridge (11) of the binocular (13). Each barrel (9) of the binocular includes an adjustable aperture stop. Preferably, the adjustable aperture stop is behind the binocular's objective (19), i.e., on the exepiece (21) side of the objective (19). Most preferably, the adjustable aperture stop is a moveable aperture assembly (31) which restricts light passing through the binocular in the low magnification setting but not in the high magnification setting. A housing is located at least partially beneath a rest shelf of a T-bar or other support for ceiling tiles. A spine extends up from the rest shelf. The housing includes an opening with a centerline which extends at least partially laterally. A light source such as an LED within a recess of the housing shines out of the opening along the centerline in an at least partially lateral direction. A diffuser is preferably provided spanning this opening. The housing preferably includes a front wall opposite a rear wall, with the rear wall larger than the front wall and with the opening in the housing extending between lower portions of the rear wall and lower portions of the front wall.
