An alternative cover for landfill may be formed from a slurry mixture of water, cementitious binder, adhesion enhancing admixture and fiber. These constituents may be mixed and applied to cover landfilled wastes, granular material piles or for soil erosion control. The cover will harden to minimize water infiltration, wind blown dust, odor and affinity to birds, flies and other insects. The water may include tap water, landfill leachate and wastewater. The binder may include Portland cement, blended cement, cement kiln dust, class C fly ash, and/or calcium sulphate hemihydrate. The adhesion enhancing admixture includes water-dispersible polymers. The fibers may comprise shredded paper or wood or plastic fibers.

In mesic environments, erosion control measures usually employ the establishment of vegetative cover by vascular plants in order to hold the soil in place. The current art often includes the application of seeds, chemical fertilizers, tackifiers, and mulches to promote the growth of vascular plants. However, arid environments so not support dense vegetative cover, but are instead dominated by photosynthetic microorganisms, primarily cyanobacteria and lichens. The cyanobacteria not only hold the soil in place, but also are the primary source of fixed nitrogen in arid environments. Disclosed herein, is a description of an apparatus and methods for the production and preservation of a photobiofertilizer as a means for repairing disturbed arid soils.

A synthetic ground cover system for erosion control to be placed atop the ground, including a synthetic grass which comprises a composite of one or more geo-textiles tufted with synthetic yarns. The synthetic ground cover also includes a sand/soil infill ballast applied to the synthetic grass and a binding agent applied to the sand/soil infill to stabilize the sand/soil infill against high velocity water shear forces.

Slope surfaces of land can be eroded by rain and wind. It is necessary to vegetate a bared slope surface of land for the purpose of erosion control and environmental conservation. The present invention provides a vegetation base soil composition and a method of growing vegetation on a sloped surface for erosion control and vegetating on cut rock slope surface, such as weathered rock surface and barren soil surface. The vegetation base soil includes peat, bio-solids formed by the treatment of urban sewage, for example water treatment plant sediment, woodchip, bark, animal waste compost and clay or loam. The vegetation base soil with a microbes active material, a root activation fertilizer, an adhesive material and seeds are applied over a mesh that is secured over the sloped surface. Plants are grown in the layer of vegetation base soil.

An erosion control system is provided which generally includes a flexible composite blanket or matting including a core layer bonded between an upper and a lower netting material, and an upper layer made of a biaxial geogrid. The matting has a flat upper surface without any substantial three dimensional features in which to trap sediment. An erosion control system and method wherein a fabric filter bag is embedded with and/or filled with a flocculating polymer and is positioned on a sloping soil surface to dam and pond water flowing thereacross for settling of the particles in the water, and as the ponding water seeps into the bag the colloidal particles will be filtered or agglomerated for settling. The water then passes through and out of the bag and is further subjected to agglomeration and filtering by a skirt of filter material also impregnated with flocculating polymer, said skirt being anchored to the bag or stacked to maintain the position adjacent and downslope from the bag.

A bi-layer, woven geotextile fabric has interwoven first and second layers. The first layer is over and under woven through the second layer in a pre-determined pattern so that the first layer has portions which face a first side of the second layer and portions which face a second side of the second layer. An apparatus for construction site erosion control for temporarily enclosing the curb inlet of a storm drainage system during construction of a road system in commercial and residential developments is adapted to be placed adjacent a curb inlet of a storm drain in order to enable storm water runoff to drain into the inlet while preventing silt and debris from being carried into and collected therein. An erosion control basin is a molded open topped receptacle that has support flanges that will support the basin on the interior of a storm drain grate frame. A wall-building unit for use in the construction of sandbag-type walls for erosion control, slope stabilization and similar applications comprises an inner bag filled with a fill material and an outer bag extending longitudinally over it so that the bottom of the outer bag is adjacent to and covers the open top edge of the inner bag. According to one aspect of the present invention, a visual attenuation composition is provided to be applicable to a landscape to visually attenuate or camouflage the landscape to approximate color characteristics of the surrounding terrain. The visual attenuation composition includes a colorant selected from the group consisting of a pigment, a dye, and combinations thereof, and optionally an additive selected from the group consisting of a flocculent, a tackifier, a stabilizer, and combinations thereof. The visual attenuation composition can be formulated to impart colorfastness as applied for a period of up to 6 weeks or longer. The visual attenuation composition described herein can be premixed with an erosion control medium or a blended mulch product described herein to impart desirable color and colorfastness. Alternatively, the erosion control medium and the blended mulch product can be applied to a ground surface prior to coloring and or color reinforcement with the visual attenuation composition.

Protection of a shoreline from erosion caused by wave action and reclaiming lost land areas by use of one or more barriers having a porosity to allow a portion of the wave to pass through the barrier at a reduced force causing the slower water to release sediment behind the barriers. Further by redirecting and dissipating the full force of waves, additional damage can be prevented.
