A method of hands free auto-filling of one or more water reservoirs of a liquid dispensing apparatus in which one or more conditions of the liquid dispensing apparatus indicative of the position of one or more float valves operably associated with the one or more water reservoirs of the liquid dispensing apparatus is sensed to determine if the one or more water reservoirs have been filled. A water dispensing assembly preferably includes a liquid manifold, a cold water reservoir, a dispensing nozzle, a pump head, an outlet port supplying water to a hot water reservoir and / or a venting assembly including a vent port and a float valve. Movement of the float valve from a position where the vent port is open to a position where the vent port is closed varies at least one condition of a liquid dispenser during filling of the one or more reservoirs enabling hands free auto-filling.
