Systems and methods for providing electric power to mobile and arbitrarily positioned devices

Various contact systems and methods for manufacturing and using such are disclosed herein. Examples of the contact systems include a surface with one set of pads biased at a first voltage level, and another set of pads biased at a second voltage level. Such a contact system can be used, for example, to transfer power to an electromechanical device disposed thereon. In one particular example, the electromechanical device can include a power storage element and two or more couplings. When one of the couplings contacts a pad biased at the first voltage level, and another of the couplings contacts a pad biased at the second voltage level, a circuit is completed where some derivative of the differential between the first voltage level and the second voltage level is placed across the power storage element. Completion of the circuit causes the power storage element to charge. Power can be drawn from the power storage element to operate the electromechanical device.

Energy converting system

An energy converting system is comprised of a track, a controller, and a magnetized body located on the track and including an energy converting unit. The track comprises electrically connected coil windings spaced apart in a series way along the track to form a 3-phase linear stator. The controller is electrically connected with the linear stator and generates a combination waveform consisting of a multi-phase propulsion signal and a power signal. The propulsion and power signals are at different frequencies. The propulsion signal causes the interaction of the magnetized body with the linear stator, thus propelling the magnetized body along the track. The energy converting unit comprises electrically connected energy consuming means and at least one pick-up coil inductively coupled to the linear stator, thus providing power to the energy consuming means.

Adhesion and braking system for a magnetic shipping container crawling apparatus

A magnetic adhesive and braking system for a remote controlled vehicle adapted for traversing across ferromagnetic surfaces of a steel shipping container including the vertical walls and ceiling. The magnetic wheel system allows the vehicle to traverse vertical grades. The magnetic braking system both securely holds the vehicle when stopped on a vertical surface, and exerts enough attractive force between the vehicle and the shipping container to allow a vehicle mounted drill to operate. The magnetic brake design uses mechanical advantage such that the force required to roll the vehicle vertically downward is heightened to the force required to detach the vehicle in a perpendicular vector from the container's surface.

Method and apparatus for automatic and semi-automatic control of track-guided toys and model vehicles

A method and an arrangement for the accurate, realistic automatic or semiautomatic control of track-guided toys, in particular electrically operated model railways and trains. Type- and / or geometry-specifying memory components, readable by non-contact, are disposed at or in each track, track piece, buffer, signal and / or switch that is to be included in the structure, such that each memory component and hence each track in addition exhibits an identification code that is not repeated within the series of such codes. Furthermore the rolling stock, preferably the locomotives, are equipped with a memory-reading device as well as a data-transmission device for revertive communication. After a first trip around the route, an electronic representation of the route configuration is available and can be preserved in a central memory. During subsequent trips around the route, the momentary position on the roadway or of the train is determined by reading memory components and revertive signalling to the central memory or a central control system, such that on the basis of prespecifiable tasks associated with operation of the railway, taking into account the route and velocity information as well as special functions, one or more machines are independently monitored and controlled.

Computer controlled car racing game

A computer controlled toy car racing game that can be played by a plurality of players. If less than a maximum number of players is present at the beginning of a race, a computer controller operates the remaining race cars such that each race includes all of the race cars. The racing game includes numerous sensors positioned above the racing course that relay control commands to each of the race cars. If a race car is computer controlled or computer assisted, the control commands are created by the computer controller. If the race car is controlled by a player, the control commands include information from a throttle and steering wheel used by the player. Upon completion of a race, the computer controller controls each of the race cars to bring the race cars back to a point on the race course near the start / finish line.
