A method of controlling a neutral section operation of a train (14) including a lead locomotive (16) and at least one remote locomotive (12) in communication with the lead locomotive. The locomotives are electrically powered from respective electrical connections to a catenary (22) having at least one neutral section (26). The method includes sensing when a lead locomotive is proximate the neutral section of the catenary. The lead locomotive then commands the remote locomotive to perform a neutral section operation when the lead locomotive has traveled a distance equal to a distance (20) between the lead locomotive and the remote locomotive. The lead locomotive determines when to issue a neutral section command based on a speed of the lead locomotive and an elapsed time from when the lead locomotive senses its location proximate the neutral section.

A third rail power insulating system, comprising an insulator assembly and a cover board assembly. The insulator assembly comprises pedestal supporting insulators that are mounted onto a contact rail assembly. A switching electromagnetic moving system is comprised of at least one track and at least one moving body located on the track. A cover assembly includes a support bracket from which a cover board is selectively suspended. A transportation system includes a vehicle having wings, a propulsion system, a lifting gear coupling the vehicle to an undercarriage, and a guidance assembly movably connecting the undercarriage to guide rails. The wings generate aerodynamic lift when the vehicle exceeds a first speed. The lifting gear supports a load of the vehicle in a first position in relation to the undercarriage when the vehicle travels at less than the first speed, allows the vehicle to lift to a second position in relation to the undercarriage as the vehicle accelerates beyond the first speed, and maintains the vehicle in the second position when the vehicle exceeds the first speed. The guidance assembly shiftingly engages the guide rails through rollers that are in rolling contact with the guide rails when the vehicle is in the first position and are displaced from the guide rails when the vehicle is in the second position.

The friction members are not powered when the power supply assembly (1) is in a rest position, and are powered when the power supply assembly (1) or the mobile or deformable portion (5) thereof is moved by the arrival of the front part of the upper collecting structure (11) of the vehicle under the power supply assembly (1) that contacts the friction members (9) so as to transfer electrical power to the vehicle. After the passage of the vehicle, the mobile portion of the power supply assembly (1) automatically returns to the rest position in which the friction members are not powered.

A road bearing for inductive coupling to an electrical connection device of an electric vehicle includes a series of primary induction coils, a bearing surface element, and a plurality of deformation features in the bearing surface element. The bearing surface element is disposed above the primary induction coils, and has an upper surface that is substantially flush with the roadway surface, has a surface flatness in the range of ±1 μm per 30 mm, and a magnetic permeability in the range of 0.9 to 2.
