11536 results about "HUMID WEATHER" patented technology

While humidity itself is a climate variable, it also interacts strongly with other climate variables. The humidity is affected by winds and by rainfall. The most humid cities on earth are generally located closer to the equator, near coastal regions. Cities in South and Southeast Asia are among the most humid.

Systems and methods for endoscope integrity testing

Systems and methods for determining the integrity of an endoscope. The systems and methods provide for an air enclosure which includes the internal area of the sleeve or tubing of the endoscope to be pressurized. Pressure measurements of the air enclosure are then taken both before and after the endoscope is manipulated by a user. The systems and methods may also or alternatively vent air from inside the endoscope to a humidity detector to detect the presence of fluid inside the endoscope.

Network based multiple sensor and control device with temperature sensing and control

A multifunction sensor device which provides various transducer functions including means for performing temperature sensing, humidity sensing, ambient light sensing, motion detection, thermostat functions, switching functions, load switching and dimming functions, displaying actual and set temperature values, displaying time of day values and a means to put the device in an on, off or auto mode. The device has utility in environments such as that found in offices, schools, homes, industrial plants or any other type of automated facility in which sensors are utilized for energy monitoring and control, end user convenience or artificial or natural cooling, heating and HVAC control. The device can be used as a switch or dimmer, sensor or thermostat as well as to adjust and control all natural and artificial lighting, temperature and humidity devices. Key elements of the invention include overcoming the difficulty of mounting diverse sensors or transducers within the same device or housing; permitting these various sensors to exist in a single package that can be mounted to a wall in a substantially flush manner; and eliminating the requirement of an air flow channel in the device, thus minimizing any adverse effects on the motion detecting element or sensor as well as providing built in partial hysteresis. The device may include additional transducers or sensors and is constructed such that the temperature and humidity sensors are neither exposed to the flow of air in a room or area nor in an airflow channel whereby a chimney effect may occur. The device can transmit and receive real time data, relative data and actual discrete data in addition to switching and controlling loads locally or remotely. An embodiment utilizing airflow channels to direct air over the temperature and humidity sensors is also disclosed.

Safety indicator and method

A safety indicator monitors environment conditions detrimental to humans e.g., hazardous gases, air pollutants, low oxygen, radiation levels of EMF or RF and microwave, temperature, humidity and air pressure retaining a three month history to upload to a PC via infra red data interface or phone link. Contaminants are analyzed and compared to stored profiles to determine its classification and notify user of an adversity by stored voice messages from, via alarm tones and associated flashing LED, via vibrator for silent operation or via LCD. Environmental radiation sources are monitored and auto-scaled. Instantaneous radiation exposure level and exposure duration data are stored for later readout as a detector and dosimeter. Scans for EMF allow detection with auto scaling of radiation levels and exposure durations are stored for subsequent readout. Electronic bugs can be found with a high sensitivity EMF range setting. Ambient temperature measurements or humidity and barometric pressure can be made over time to predict weather changes. A PCS RF link provides wireless remote communications in a first responder military use by upload of alarm conditions, field measurements and with download of command instructions. The link supports reception of telemetry data for real time remote monitoring of personnel via the wrist band for blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and blood oxygen levels are transmitted. Commercial uses include remote environmental data collection and employee assignment tasking. GPS locates personnel and reporting coordinates associated with alarm occurrences and associated environmental measurements.

Thermal Emission Non-Invasive Analyte Monitor

An improved method and an improved instrument for analyte determination that uses infrared radiation naturally emitted by subject are disclosed. The method is based on Thermal Emission Spectroscopy (TES) whereby the spectral signal is measured in reference to a body's physiological and ambient parameters. The instrument that realizes the method incorporates temperature and humidity sensors. Ambient environmental parameters and subject parameters as disclosed allow normalization of spectrally specific analyte signal for grater precision and accuracy of analytes concentration determination. Such improvement leads to a universal calibration in, for example, non-invasive blood glucose measurements in human subjects.

A monitoring system identifies a wet diaper by embedding an inexpensive disposable passive humidity sensor, which may be formed of conductive ink, and attaching to the outside of the diaper a detachable transmitting module that is triggered into transmission by the humidity sensor. The transmitting module is sealed and transferable from the wet diaper to a dry one. Uniquely coded data is wirelessly transmitted to a remote receiver. The receiver may be a battery powered portable unit carried by the baby's guardian. In a day care center a multiple function receiver can identify any of several diapers. In hospitals, several strategically located receivers are each capable of recognizing and reporting any wet diaper within its range to a central computer. Low cost and long range are achieved by using a detachable and transportable active transmitter that is not discarded with the wet diaper and therefore can be re-used. False transmissions are prevented by a confirmatory resistance.

Environmental sensor

Multi functional sensors are described. A silicon based sensor utilizes metal layers arranged as resistors around a central pair if resistors separated by a humidity sensitive polymer with one of the central resistors being a heater. This enables temperature humidity wind speed and direction to be measured. In another embodiment an array of resistors is printed onto a flexible substrate to form the basis of an array of sensors. A soil moisture sensor, which is also useful as a leaf wetness sensor, incorporates a novel self calibrating capacitive sensor structure. The flexible substrate is rolled into a stake that can be inserted in the soil so that below ground sensors measure soil moisture and above ground sensors measure temperature, light, humidity, wind speed and direction.

Edible holographic products, particularly pharmaceuticals and methods and apparatus for producing same

An edible product such as a unit dosage form of a pharmaceutically active substance includes a layer of a material that can receive and retain a high resolution microrelief that can convey information. The microrelief is themo-formable, preferably formed from an aqueous solution of HPMC and / or HPC plus a plasticizer and colorant. Other additives such as strengtheners, surfactants and adherents may be used depending on the application. The materials are selected and proportioned to control the fading or change in color of the visual image or effect produced by the relief to indicate exposure to an unacceptable degree of heat or humidity. The dosage form can be the relief-containing layer itself with the pharmaceutical carried therein. In a preferred form, the layer is an outer coating over a core containing the pharmaceutically active substance. Coated tablets are configured to resist twinning. To produce such dosage forms, the coated core is transported in unison with a flexible mold or transfer plate that can heat-replicate the microrelief on the outer layer of the dosage form, followed by a cooling and release of the transfer plate from the coating.

Pleated heat and humidity exchanger with flow field elements

A heat and humidity exchanger comprises a pleated membrane cartridge disposed in a housing. The cartridge comprises a pleated water-permeable membrane via which heat and humidity can be transferred between two fluid streams. A flow field element is disposed within some or all of the folds of the pleated membrane, for directing the stream over the inner surfaces of the folds. The flow field path defined by the flow field element enhances flow distribution across one or both membrane surfaces, controlling the relative flow paths of the two streams on opposite sides of the membrane and reducing the pressure drop across the heat and humidity exchanger. The flow field elements provide improved water transfer and allow for a more compact device. The flow field elements can also assist in supporting the pleated membrane and controlling the pleat spacing within the pleated membrane cartridge. The heat and humidity exchanger is particularly suitable for fuel cell and energy recovery ventilator (ERV) applications.
