Mobile communication device with reduced electric field emission levels near the earpiece

A mobile communication device (1) is provided with an antenna (10) having an antenna element (10a) and a conductive ground element (26) to cooperate with the antenna element. In use, RF currents are generated in the conductive ground element and as a result an oscillating electric field arises. The conductive ground element is arranged in the device (1) such that the point of highest electric field is located away from the region where the earpiece (5) is positioned in order to reduce the emission of the electric field to the ear (12). The conductive ground element (26) may be provided in a conductive layer of the Printed Circuit/Wire Board (24) of the device. The point of highest electric field in a in a conductive layer arises at the end of the physical path near a physical end of the layer, which in a conventional flip-phone typically corresponds to the top of the first hinged body part (2) where the earpiece (5) is also positioned. According to the invention, the layer is serpentine shaped and arranged such that the end of the electrical path of the Printed Circuit/Wire Board is located approximately half a wavelength of the oscillating field away from the area of the earpiece. Alternatively, tracks or wires (27, 28) acting as ground extensions may be connected to the ground plane (26) to move the end of the electrical path and the high electric field away from the region of the earpiece.

Apparatus for hot fusion of fusion-reactive gases

A generally spherical sealed reactor vessel defining a volume. A target sphere shaped electrode 11 is centered within a nonconductive reactor vessel 21. The target sphere is insulated from and fixedly centered within the nonconductive reactor vessel by an insulated stalk 22. This vessel is suspended in an insulating and cooling medium 241 composed of transformer oil. Deuterium gas 235 is released into and contained within the volume at a predetermined pressure. A source of high voltage, high frequency potential 130 is connected to the target electrode by an electrical connection 13. The other terminal of the high voltage, high frequency potential source is connected to Earth ground 153. The applied alternating electrical potential creates an alternating electrical field within the reaction chamber. This an oscillating electric field is formed within the enclosed space of nonconductive reactor vessel 21, extending between target electrode 11 and heat absorbent container 238. This electric field is of sufficient intensity to provide for the ionization of gases contained therein. It also provides for the alternately radial outward acceleration and the alternately radial inward acceleration of the contained ionized gases. The collapsing of ionized gases provides for ions impacting the spherical target, and for the impact of ions with one another. The intensity of the electric field is sufficient that such impacts occur at fusion reactive velocities.

Developing device and image forming apparatus

To provide a developing device capable of preventing the hysteresis phenomenon. The developer of the developing device contains a toner and a carrier. The toner and the carrier are charged to a polarity different from each other by frictional contact thereof. The developing device has a first conveyance member and a second conveyance member which faces an electrostatic latent image bearing body via the second region. An electric field forming device forms a first electric field between the first conveyance member and the second conveyance member to move the toner in the developer retained by the first conveyance member to the second conveyance member, and forms a second electric field between the second conveyance member and the electrostatic latent image bearing body to move the toner retained by the second conveyance member to an electrostatic latent image of the electrostatic latent image bearing body. The first electric field is an oscillating electric field having both a function to supply the toner to the second conveyance member and a function to collect the toner from the second conveyance member while a time average field strength is biased to a side where the toner is supplied from the first conveyance member to the second conveyance member, and a time ratio for carrying out the function to collect the toner from the second conveyance member to the first conveyance member is 60 to 80%.
