A composition comprising: (i) 0.01 to 10% by weight of a branched cationic conditioning surfactant; selected from structure 1, wherein: ●●R1 and R2 comprise straight-chain
hydrocarbon chains, which are saturated or unsaturated, and the carbon-
carbon chain length is C4 to C5. 20 ; ●●R3 contains a protonated or saturated or unsaturated carbon-
carbon chain with a length of C1 to C5; ●●n has a range of 0-10; and ●●X G The
active ingredient is an organic or inorganic anion; (ii) 0.1 to 10% by weight of a straight-chain fatty substance having at least one linear carbon-
carbon chain, selected from straight-chain fatty alcohols, straight-chain
alkyl oxidized fatty alcohols, straight-chain fatty acids, and mixtures thereof; (iii) 0.1 to 5% by weight of a nonionic structuring agent; and (iv) a particulate beneficial agent selected from conditioning active substances; wherein the
molar ratio of the branched cationic surfactant (i) to the straight-chain fatty substance (ii) ranges from 1:20 to 1:1, resulting in improved deposition of the particulate beneficial agent on decolorized hair. A preferred structuring agent is
hydroxyethyl cellulose, and a preferred conditioning active substance is a
siloxane emulsion.
