The method includes the following steps of determining parameters, such as the size and working environments, of an O-shaped sealing ring, determining a rubber physical nonlinear material function model, establishing a finite element model, conducting simulation analysis on relations among the material hardness, installation conditions, environment pressure and sealing surface contact pressure, calculating the material hardness and installation conditions of the O-shaped sealing ring in an undetermined environment, and calculating the sealing performance of the O-shaped sealing ring. According to the technical scheme, the method is simple, complex sealing tests are avoided, the test cost is reduced, the design and evaluation period is greatly shortened, and the method can be applied to design and improvement of a sealing system and also has a good application value in the aspect of sealing reliability evaluation.
