203 results about "Water Skiing" patented technology

Water skiing (also waterskiing or water-skiing) is a surface water sport in which an individual is pulled behind a boat or a cable ski installation over a body of water, skimming the surface on two skis or one ski. The sport requires sufficient area on a smooth stretch of water, one or two skis, a tow boat with tow rope, three people (depending on state boating laws), and a personal flotation device. In addition, the skier must have adequate upper and lower body strength, muscular endurance, and good balance.

Acceleration control system for a marine vessel

An acceleration control system is provided which allows the operator of a marine vessel to select an acceleration profile to control the engine speed of a marine vessel from an initial starting speed to a final desired speed. When used in conjunction with tow sports, such as wake boarding and water skiing, the use of acceleration profile provides consistent performance during the period of time when a water skier is accelerated from a stationary position to a full speed condition.

Water ride attraction incorporating rider skill

A waterslide attraction capable of incorporating user skill or agility. The waterslide attraction utilizes a slide for supporting a rider, either with a ride vehicle or without. The ride vehicle may be a mat with handles that allows the rider thereon to manipulate its position or other elements while on the slide. Upon manipulating an element, a signal may be transmitted. Sensors located along the slide are configured to interact with tags having corresponding identification information, such tags either worn by the rider in accessories or embedded or coupled with the ride vehicle. When a tag is within a predetermined distance or vicinity of a sensor, one or more aspects of the waterslide attraction may be modified, such as by turning on jets of fluid or assigning score points associated with the identification information. A screen or mobile application displays various characteristics corresponding to travel performance down the slide.

Fuel efficient vehicle tire having a variable footprint and low rolling resistance

A tire for vehicles offering low rolling resistance wherein the ground-contact surface area is variable as a portion of the tread part can be retracted and / or extended using pneumatic, mechanical or hydraulic force to withdraw from, or come into contact with the road surface before, during or after operation permitting more efficient operation wherein the material used within the tread part that retains contact with the road may generally have a smaller internal friction loss than the material used in conventional tires and the rolling resistance is thereby reduced when the retractable portion of the tread is selectively withdrawn from contact with the road surface furthermore achieving a smaller ground-contact patch footprint. The achieved object of a tire with a lower rolling resistance yields improved fuel consumption efficiency. Improvements in exterior and interior noise levels and a reduced tendency to exhibit hydroplaning action are also attained with a variable groove volume to tread surface-contact ratio. Within one embodiment of the present invention, an automated microcomputer-based tire control system is disclosed useable to command the motion of the moveable tread portion of the said tire in response to various operational scenarios.

Pneumatic tire

A pneumatic tire is provided in which hydroplaning performance, transverse slipping performance on snow, straight forward traveling stability, and the like are maintained by a pair of circumferential grooves. A large number of second blocks and center blocks are formed, by a large number of transverse grooves, in a center tread region positioned between the pair of circumferential grooves. A reinforcing portion is provided at the center block. This reinforcing portion faces, in a circumferential direction, the second block with a narrow transverse groove therebetween. Another reinforcing portion is provided at an end portion of the second block. This reinforcing portion faces, in the circumferential direction, the center block with a narrow transverse groove therebetween. Each block is reinforced by the reinforcing portion provided integrally therewith. When a block receives load in a direction of deformation, the block abuts and is supported by the reinforcing portion of a block adjacent thereto. Thus, even if a number of transverse grooves is increased, deformation is suppressed. Accordingly, good off-road performance, on-snow performance, and on-road traveling performance can be obtained.
