Disclosed herein is a focal length adjustment apparatus in which a magnetic fluid that serves as attenuation means is injected between a magnet and a coil to achieve an improvement in a magnetic flux density and damping effect. The apparatus comprises a moving unit including a lens barrel that contains at least one lens therein, and a coil arranged on an outer circumference of the lens barrel, a fixed unit including a yoke formed with an opening for receiving the lens barrel, a case into which the yoke is inserted and mounted, and a magnet affixed to the yoke to be arranged adjacent to the coil, a supporting member used to elastically support the moving unit relative to the case, and attenuation means interposed between the coil and the magnet to attenuate vibration of the moving unit.

A fastener installation tool including a guide that guides a fastener into a side of a work piece at an angle, while optionally restraining the fastener from wobbling due to rotation, even upon initial entry into the work piece. The guide can define an angled bore including a fastener entrance opening and a fastener exit opening which is adapted to be positioned immediately adjacent the work piece. The guide can include a material ejection port between the openings, through which material bored from the work piece can be evacuated from the angled bore to prevent binding of the material with the fastener. The invention relates to a device for affixing to cylindrical components of medical instruments, for instance an instrumental shaft, having at least one intake part that can be mounted on the cylindrical component and can be affixed to the cylindrical component, wherein a sleeve-shaped collet chuck that essentially coaxially surrounds the cylindrical component is positioned in the intake part and whose inner diameter can be displaced between a span that can slide along the cylindrical component and a span that is in form-locking contiguity on the cylindrical component. To allow for a stationary clamping on the one hand and ensure a non-harmful clamping of the cylindrical component on the other hand, it is proposed with the invention that the inner diameter of the collet chuck can be displaced by a slider that can slide essentially diagonally to the cylindrical component and is mounted so that it can slide in the housing of the intake part.

Systems and methods for fabric cutting guides are provided. The cutting guide system includes interchangeable cutting guides and interchangeable handles. The cutting guides include a base having a fabric engagement structure on the bottom. The fabric engagement structure includes a seam engagement surface to engage with a seam of a fabric piece in order to position the fabric piece as desired. Once the fabric piece is positioned, at least a portion of the perimeter of the base may be used as a cutting guide so that a user may cut along the side of the base with a blade in order to produce fabric shapes that are highly uniform. The base also includes a socket so that the interchangeable handle may be interchanged between cutting guides. Additionally, the interchangeable handle has a height sufficient to remove a user's have from the proximity of the cutting guide when in use.

The back-up table for a chip mounter includes a base plate, a back-up plate spaced a predetermined distance from the base plate to support a back-up pin that supports a printed circuit board, and at least one set of link units installed between the base plate and the back-up plate and facing opposite to each other. The back-up table further comprises a first driving part installed between the opposite facing link units and operating the link units to raise and lower the back-up plate, and a second driving part serially connected to the first driving part.

A pipe holder comprises a handle and a slant piece. The slant piece includes a handle attachment point, a mouth, and a support point. A centerline runs through the mouth and support point. The handle attachment point resides between the mouth and support point, and is configured to point the handle approximately orthogonal to the slant piece centerline. The mouth is sized and shaped to urge a pipe to reside in the mouth substantially orthogonal to the handle and at an angle other than 90 degrees from a plane of the slant piece. When an inserted end of the pipe is inserted through the mouth, a three point stance is formed by the support point, an opposite end of the pipe, and a support end of the handle. The inserted end of the pipe is thereby supported above the ground. The pipe holder is stabilized by stepping on the handle.

A fabric seam alignment tool has an upper plate and a lower plate. Each plate has interior and exterior surfaces, parallel side edges, and forward and rearward ends. A swivel plate couples the upper and lower plates. A central plane is created through the tool midway between the upper and lower plates. A forward opening is located between the upper and lower plates forwardly of the swivel plate. A rearward opening is between the upper and lower plates rearwardly of the swivel plate. The tool is formed of a transparent plastic having limited resilience.

The cam member utilizes a ball-and-socket coupling to couple the cam member to the sliding clamp bar.
