Apparatus and methods for repairing damaged tendons or ligaments. Various repair apparatus include an elongate tensile member and a pair of anchor structures connected for movement along the tensile member on either side of a repair site, such as a tear or laceration. The anchor structures may take many forms, and may include barbed, helical, and crimp-type anchors. In the preferred embodiments, at least one anchor structure is movable along the elongate tensile member to assist with adjusting a tendon segment to an appropriate repair position and the anchor structure or structures are then lockable onto the elongate tensile member to assist with affixing the tendon at the repair position. The invention further provides tendon-to-bone repair apparatus and methods employing similar concepts. Tendon retrieval devices of the invention include helical members for rotating into a tendon end and subsequently moving the tendon to an appropriate operating position.

A fiber blend, a yarn spun from the fiber blend, and a fabric made from the yarn, wherein the fiber blend comprises: (a) about 40 wt.% to about 65 wt.% modacrylic fibers containing antimony, or FR acrylic fibers; (b) about 10 wt.% to about 50 wt.% cotton fibers or FR cotton fibers; (c) up to about 25 wt.% nylon fibers; and (d) greater than about 3 wt.% and less than 10 wt.% para-aramid fibers. The fabric is over 90 percent dyeable and is capable of achieving ASTM F1506 certification with an Arc Thermal Performance Value greater than 8.0 cal/cm². The fabric is woven or knitted, and has a weight of about 4.0 oz./yd.² to about 10.5 oz./yd.². The fabric is suitable for garments worn during activities in which there is potential for exposure to flame and/or electrical arc.

Disclosed herein are reusable apparatus for the generation of a gas including a reactant chamber defined at least in part by a gas permeable material and a resealable opening. In certain embodiments the gas permeable material is substantially impervious to the passage of liquid and/or allows for the controlled passage of gas. Also disclosed are methods for using the apparatus, reusable reactant chambers, kits including reactants and reactant refill kits.

A stator for a tubular electrical generator or motor has a substantially cylindrical inner surface containing a series of axially-spaced slots for receiving the coils of a stator winding. The stator is formed from a plurality of stacked annular laminations that define the slots and the inner surface. The laminations comprise circumferentially-spaced radial slits defining fingers that extend radially outwards from their radially inner edges. The slits and fingers reduce the overall eddy losses in the stator while permitting simple manufacture, simple assembly and high radial thermal conduction for good cooling. In an alternative embodiment, the laminations and their fingers may be replaced by layers of batons of similar radial extent to the laminations.

A composite panel comprised of a sheet of substrate and a coextruded layer of plastic covering the substrate. The panel may be used as a retaining panel for a body of water in a cantilever wall or an anchored sheet pile wall. The retaining panel may include a central portion, two side portions, and two flanges. The retaining panel may also include integral connecting portions. The substrate may be comprised of a material such as aluminum or steel, while the plastic may be a material such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Other applications of the composite panel include uses as building panels for sidewalls or roofs.

A drill pipe including a tube having opposite ends. An internally threaded connector is provided at one of the opposite ends of the tube. An externally threaded connector is provided at the other one of the opposite ends of the tube. A solar collector has an opaque cover heated by solar energy. Heat flows from the opaque cover by conduction, convection, and infrared emittance across a gap within an at least substantially airtight enclosure to an absorber containing a working fluid. The exterior surface of the opaque cover has high solar energy absorptance and the interior surface has high infrared emittance. The exterior surface preferably has low infrared emittance. In one embodiment, fully wetted surface geometry permits direct and reflected infrared absorption by the absorber. The opaque cover eliminates the weight, cost and other shortcomings of glass. A hollow continuous side wall with rounded corners provides an embodiment that is robust yet economical, that is easy to manufacture and seal, that permits a reduced thickness of the opaque cover and mitigates the destructive potential of severe winds, and that can withstand the compressive forces experienced by an evacuated solar collector.

The present invention relates to a container carrier and to packaging systems for containers and using the same. This invention pertains to carrier stock for machine application to substantially identical containers such as beverage cans having annular chimes, cylindrical side walls, and frusto-conical walls between the chimes and the side walls. In particular, the present invention relates to plastic film having apertures to securely retain drinks cans, food cans, bottles and similar containers, a method of applying the film and the resultant combination.

A container packaging system for containers applies an apertured plastics film carrier stock to substantially identical containers such as beverage cans having annular chimes, cylindrical side walls, and frusto-conical walls between the chimes and the side walls. The carrier stock has shaped apertures to securely retain drinks cans, food cans, bottles and similar containers, as a multi-pack unit. The carrier stock is rolled onto suitably juxtaposed containers engaging a tabbed aperture edge portion progressively from above to below the upper edge of the respective containers to be multi-packed and assumes a waveform 3D conformation to unitise the containers. An improved sender module closure system for providing a reliable, sealed interface between a sender module and a fuel tank at the access port thereof, includes an interfacing ring set composed of a base ring and a helmeted lock ring. The base ring is permanently connected to the fuel tank at the access port, and has a plurality of upstanding lock fingers. The helmeted lock ring is a separate piece, composed of a lock ring component and an integrally connected helmet component. The lock ring component has a plurality of finger apertures, one for receiving each lock finger. The helmet component protectively covers the sender module and has helmet apertures for external access to connectors of the sender module.

The incorporation of calcium and at least one member selected from the group consisting of vanadium and scandium into an aluminum lithium alloy containing: lithium, copper, magnesium, zirconium, beryllium, titanium, nickel, manganese, gallium, zinc, and sodium provides an aluminum lithium alloy that: 1) exhibits improved ductility; 2) exhibits improved processability resulting in the capability to obtain higher yields of semi-finished products; 3) provides the ability to fabricate thin sheets, thin walled sections and forgings, all while preserving the inherent strength and operating characteristics of such alloys when applied to semi-finished products and parts thereof demanded by structural applications in these fields.

A vehicle has first and second parts with at least one road wheel. A method is described for the production of profiled floor elements from a timber material, comprising at least one covering flange protruding from a footing and having a rounded longitudinal edge, with the method proceeding on the basis of a pre-profiled floor element consisting of profiled floor elements connected along a longitudinal edge by means of a connecting land and the profiled floor elements being separated from each other by machining the connecting land on the profiled side opposing the visible side once a covering layer has been adhesively bonded to the pre-profiled floor element in the region of the visible sides of the subsequent profiled floor elements. In order to ensure advantageous production conditions, it is proposed that the strips of the covering layer corresponding to the individual profiled floor elements are adhesively bonded to the pre-profiled floor element, which forms a connecting land bridging the wedge-shaped recess between the rounded longitudinal edges on the side of the covering flange facing away from the visible side, and that the edge sections of the strips, which face each other and protrude into the wedge-shaped recess, are bent into the wedge-shaped recess between the rounded longitudinal edges of the covering flange and are adhesively bonded to the longitudinal edges before the connecting land is machined away on the underside of the covering flange.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing an ASA graft copolymer, a method of preparing a thermoplastic resin composition including the ASA graft copolymer, and a method of manufacturing a molded article using the thermoplastic resin composition. More particularly, the present invention provides an ASA graft copolymer having improved thermal stability through addition of an emulsifier in a specific amount range in a seed preparation step and introduction of a multifunctional carboxylic acid having 20 or more carbon atoms or a salt thereof, as an emulsifier, in a shell preparation step and a high-quality thermoplastic resin composition exhibiting excellent impact resistance, such as impact strength and tensile strength, and excellent appearance, such as surface gloss, whiteness, and retention-associated heat discoloration, and causing considerable reduction in the amount of gas generated on a surface of a resin during a high-temperature thermoforming process due to inclusion of the ASA graft copolymer.

The present disclosure describes a fin plug assembly for removably mounting a watercraft fin on a watercraft. In some embodiments the fin plug assembly includes a fin plug, a fin plug finishing insert and in some instances, a shelf-like support that is configured to house the fin plug assembly. Methods of making, methods of installing, and tools for installing the fin plug assembly in a watercraft are also described.
