System and method for networking fitness machines

A system and method for networking fitness machines for allowing a fitness trainer or instructor to control various settings for a plurality of exercise machines simultaneously, and further for allowing an individual user and / or trainer to modify the settings of an individual exercise machine. The system and method for networking fitness machines generally includes a trainer remote control device, one or more machine-mounted onboard trainer controllers, and a machine-mounted onboard user controller. The trainer remote control device may be securely mounted to the arm of a trainer so that the trainer's hands remain free to instruct exercisers. The trainer remote control device includes a touch screen that displays selections corresponding to various settings on the exercise machines, such as tilt and roll, elevation, resistance level, and body positioning light indicia. The trainer remote control communicates with the plurality of exercise machines via a wireless network or Bluetooth connection allowing the trainer to change the settings of a plurality of exercise machines in a class mode simultaneously. The machine-mounted onboard trainer controllers and user controller provide the ability for the trainer or an exerciser to change the settings of an individual machine either during class in a class mode or in a private training mode.

Synchronized exercising and singing

A computer-implemented method and system facilitating a karaoke performance while exercising during an individual exercise session or group exercise class are disclosed. An indication of a song to be performed during the session or exercise class is received. At least one computer-readable karaoke file corresponding to the song is retrieved. The at least one computer-readable karaoke file may comprise common data elements, at least two independent karaoke data streams and exercise-related data elements. From a first class participant a selection of a first data stream of the at least two independent karaoke data streams is received. From a second class participant a selection of a second data stream of the at least two independent karaoke data streams is received. The presentation of the common data elements and the exercise-related data elements on a display common to the first and the second class participants is directed. The presentation of the first karaoke data stream on a display unique to the first class participant is directed. The presentation of the second karaoke data stream on a display unique to the second class participant is directed. The presentation of the common data elements, the exercise-related data elements, the first data stream and the second data stream may be synchronized.

Method for estimating exercise load level based on cardiogenic signals

The invention discloses a method for estimating an exercise load level based on cardiogenic signals. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, extracting a great number of characteristics from electrocardiogram, beat-to-beat blood pressure and photoelectric plethysmography in a resting-exercise experiment; secondly, screening individual exercise load sensitive indexes from the characteristics to form an individual exercise load sensitive index vector; thirdly, estimating coefficients of an exercise load estimation equation through a numerical computation method according to the individual exercise load sensitive index vector; finally, in an actual exercise state or a non-exercise state, substituting the individual exercise load sensitive index vector screened from the characteristic parameters, obtained by real-time detection and computation, of the electrocardiogram, the beat-to-beat blood pressure and the photoelectric plethysmography into the load estimation equation to estimate an actual exercise load level. According to the technical scheme, the limitation on estimation of the exercise load level through a single independent index is avoided, and the exercise load level is accurately and comprehensively estimated through various cardiogenic signals.

Device for assessing and display of a difference in vectors of forces exercised by a pair of arms or legs

A device for assessing and display of a difference in vectors of forces exercised by a pair of arms or legs of exercising persons, e. g. patients suffering from a damage of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or sportsmen comprises a housing (1) with preferably two means (2) for a participation with a pair of limbs - arms or legs, wherein the means (2) are designed in various ways with the purpose to allow proper participation with the treated pair of limbs in an individual exercise, and are arranged on bearings (3) within the housing (1), further comprising a microcontroller (8) and optionally a computer (13), the Internet (14) for connection to an expert centre (15). Each means (2) is connected with a means (4) for the measurement of forces (F). The device of the invention further includes an accelerometer (5), a gyroscope (6) and a magnetometer (7) for the determination of its position and orientation in space, wherein all data from said means (4), said accelerometer (5), said gyroscope (6) and magnetometer (7) are gathered by said microcontroller (8) that evaluates them with models and algorithms, and said data are continuously displayed on a display (9), a monitor or a TV screen, notifying the exercising person on the exercising status and suggesting next steps.
