This invention discloses an ultrasonic scaler identification system and method. The system includes a control unit and an ultrasonic scaler. The ultrasonic scaler includes a handle and a working head. The handle is equipped with a handle information storage unit for storing first feature code information of the handle. The working head is equipped with a working head information storage unit for storing second feature code information of the working head. The control unit is electrically connected to both the handle information storage unit and the working head information storage unit. The control unit includes a preset feature code database. After the working head and handle are assembled, the control unit reads the first and second feature codes. When both the first and second feature codes match the feature codes in the preset feature code database, the control unit outputs an electrical signal to the working head to activate it. Using this system, accurate identification of the ultrasonic scaler can be achieved.
