A media capture device (MCD) that provides a multi-sensor, free flight camera platform with advanced learning technology to replicate the desires and skills of the purchaser/owner is provided. Advanced algorithms may uniquely enable many functions for autonomous and revolutionary photography. The device may learn about the user, the environment, and/or how to optimize a photographic experience so that compelling events may be captured and composed into efficient and emotional sharing. The device may capture better photos and videos as perceived by one's social circle of friends, and/or may greatly simplify the process of using a camera to the ultimate convenience of full autonomous operation.

A multocular image pickup apparatus includes: a distance calculation unit that calculates information regarding the distance to a captured object from an output video of a first image pickup unit, which is to be the reference unit of a plurality of image pickup units that pick up images, and from an output video of an image pickup unit that is different from the first image pickup unit; a multocular video synthesizing unit that generates synthesized video from the output video of the plurality of image pickup units based on the distance information for regions where the distance information could be calculated; and a monocular video synthesizing unit that generates synthesized video from the output video of the first image pickup unit for regions where the distance information could not be calculated. The distance calculation unit calculates a first distance information that is the distance to the captured object from the output video of the first image pickup unit and the output video of a second image pickup unit that is different from the first image pickup unit, and in case that there is a region where the first distance information could not be calculated, for the region where the first distance information could not be calculated, the distance calculation unit recalculates information regarding the distance to the captured object from the output video of an image pickup unit that was not used for calculating the distance among the plurality of image pickup units, and from the output video of the first image pickup unit.

Systems and methods are provided for extracting various features from data having spatial coordinates. The systems and methods may identify and extract data points from a point cloud, where the data points are considered to be part of the ground surface, a building, or a wire (e.g. power lines). Systems and methods are also provided for enhancing a point cloud using external data (e.g. images and other point clouds), and for tracking a moving object by comparing images with a point cloud. An objects database is also provided which can be used to scale point clouds to be of similar size. The objects database can also be used to search for certain objects in a point cloud, as well as recognize unidentified objects in a point cloud.

An adaptive image acquisition system and method that generates virtual view of a surveillance scene to a user (operator), in which, the user operates the system. Through viewing the virtual view, the user controls sensors that create the virtual view. The sensors comprise at least one first sensor having a higher resolution than at least one second sensor. Images from the second sensor are processed to create an image mosaic that is overlaid with images from the higher resolution first sensor. In one embodiment of the invention, the first sensor is moved using Saccade motion. In another embodiment of the invention, a user's intent is used to control the Saccade motion.

Provided is a camera control system which will not invade one's privacy even if a camera is located where there is a problem in terms of privacy. One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for generating a transparency effect for a computing device. The technique includes transmitting, to a camera, a synchronization signal associated with a refresh rate of a display. The technique further includes determining a line of sight of a user relative to the display, acquiring a first image based on the synchronization signal, and processing the first image based on the line of sight of the user to generate a first processed image. During a process of migrating a source system into a standardized virtual environment, virtual machine instances of the source system executing in a hypervisor are snapshotted as virtual machine images in an operational repository of the hypervisor. The virtual machine images in the operational repository are short-term snapshots. A method and system for producing cranial remodeling devices to correct for head deformities in infants is described. The system operates on three dimensional digital captured data of a head to automatically provide trim line information for each cranial remodeling device.

In one embodiment of the invention, a digital mirror is disclosed including an enclosure; a display device mounted in the enclosure to display images at a front side of the enclosure; an image capture device mounted in the enclosure adjacent the display device to reduce parallax error; lights mounted in the enclosure adjacent the display device; and a light diffuser mounted to the enclosure around the display device over the one or more lights. A system and method for monitoring an individual in a dwelling so as to know when such individual falls or indicates the need of assistance. A plurality of 3D motion and sound sensors are located in the dwelling and provide data to a computerized monitoring system. The sensors are configured to recognize one or more biometric identifiers of the individual being monitored. When the monitoring system detects that the individual has fallen or gestured, a computerized communication system contacts the individual to determine the need to send assistance to help the individual.
